2020: Time to see the West Coast (but still find time to go to Orlando too)! complete 10/22

They really have! It's disappointing.

I think I'm going to give in and just get an AP again since I'll get 3 trips out of it but it's still a crazy price.

That's not bad!
I changed my mind. We’re getting APs too. Instead of Italy for spring break we’re doing WDW!

Interested to see what you think.
1. "I lament the loss of time!"
or
2. "It was so nice taking things a bit slower!"

I already started feeling like I should've booked an earlier flight that morning to have more time lol but I've reminded myself that we weren't even supposed to start our trip until the next day so I'm looking at the whole thing as bonus time!

It is so difficult around my neck of the woods to find decent airfare.
$200.00 is a steal to me, 😆
I am super happy if I can keep it under $400.00 a person
It is fun to have an extra day to relax!

Wow! It's crazy how much airfare can be. My coworker's husband got a job with the airlines and now their family can fly standby for free whenever they want and I've seriously considered doing it part-time myself!

Sounds like everything is moving right along! I'm super excited to follow your Disneyland planning, I'd really like to take my first DL trip within the next year and maybe Universal Hollywood too.

Flights always seem to be the worst part about planning! From Minneapolis it's hard to get a direct flight anywhere except on Delta. My brother works for United now and I can get discounted tickets but then I have to have a layover

Ah! Makes sense. :)

Oo awesome! I'm super excited to finally see Disneyland and Universal Hollywood but planning is super different because it's so much more laidback lol. I keep trying to find more things to plan for and it's just not close enough yet.

Agreed. It's my least favorite part.

Flight Changes and FP planning

So because of the current events, most airlines have relaxed their change/cancellation policies. And because I can't help myself, I went on the United website today to look into changing our flight in to an earlier flight. There's a flight leaving out of Newark at 9:50 AM that dropped in price so I was able to switch us to that one!

Now we'll be landing in Orlando around noon instead of 3 pm. It's not a huge change but I couldn't resist a few more hours of vacation lol.

Also, our FP day is quickly approaching on the 16th!

This meant I had to decide what to do about tickets. Mike's AP is good until July but mine expired in January and I didn't renew because of the price increase. I ended up getting another AP anyway lol. I know I'll get our May trip, Fall trip and January/February of next year out of it so it only made sense.

I did a rough outline of park days to book ADRs so I'm sticking with that for FP booking because I haven't done any further planning on it lol.

May 13: fly in/nonpark day

May 14: USO/IOA
May 15: USO/IOA/check in at Pop Century/DS

May 16: MK- hoping for FP for 7DMT, Splash and Space- super sad that BTMRR will be closed :( :(

May 17: DHS/Epcot/poss back to DHS lol- Originally the park hours reflected AM EMH at DHS this morning but then they took away all the AM EMH at DHS and made them PM hours which makes my plan make less sense but we'll make it work. I'm hoping to get FP for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway 🤞🤞, Tower of Terror and TSMM.

May 18: AK- hoping for FOP, Everest and Dinosaur

May 19: another DHS morning/open afternoon and back to DHS for Fantasmic- if I can't get MMRR on our first DHS day, hopefully I'll get it here otherwise we'll do Millenium Falcon, TOT and RnRC

May 20: Epcot/either MK or AK- FP for Spaceship Earth (last ride before the refurb :(), Frozen and Mission Space.

Hopefully all will go as planned but I'm not stressing because other than Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, I'm not worried about not getting any other FPs because we've done them before and I know we can rope drop/pull same day FPs.

In non-Disney trip related news, we're still planning to make our Colorado trip this month unless circumstances change. We're planning to spend time in Denver, the Rocky Mountains and driving up to Mount Rushmore for a few days. Last night we were watching tv and they were dog sledding and Mike said he'd love to do that so I found a place about 45 minutes outside of Denver that I'm planning to book as a surprise for his birthday since it's the day after we come home!

Oh boy, it's a tough time to be planning travel for this spring. I'm not sure what I would be doing, there's just so much uncertainty. I hope things work out for you.

Your May plans sound lovely. How exciting to get to try out mmrr.

I'm hoping mine will do the same... need to change my flight from the canceled Alaska cruise trip.
Now we'll be landing in Orlando around noon instead of 3 pm.
Every minute counts!
I didn't renew because of the price increase. I ended up getting another AP anyway lol.

But... question... when did you renew it? Did you get the renewal discount or had it lapsed? I'm wondering about mine, but kinda don't want to renew it until later... I've heard that you have 30 days after expiry to renew and I might want to do that...
super sad that BTMRR will be closed :( :(
Yeah... that's a huge bummer.
FP for Spaceship Earth (last ride before the refurb :(),
But you are getting on it! :)

Oh! Nice! Haven't been to Denver and haven't been to Rushmore since before you were born.

Very nice. I've done it once and my youngest DD went last year and did it. :)

Glad you could change your flight!

And yay for renewing your AP!

Fingers crossed nothing affects your Colorado trip! What a fun surprise the dog sledding will be for Mike!

I'm hoping mine will do the same... need to change my flight from the canceled Alaska cruise trip.

Ugh I'm sure that was a rough one to cancel. Will you reschedule it and did the airline work with you?

Agreed!

It lapsed. I considered renewing with the discount but even without the discount, it made more sense to let it lapse and have it last a year from when we make it back instead of a year from January when it expired.

But you are getting on it! :)

Yess hopefully!

Very nice. I've done it once and my youngest DD went last year and did it. :)

I went once in middle school when we went to Quebec and Montreal but mostly I just remember being cold lol

Wasn't the best. But... better safe...

I haven't called the airline yet. They're asking if you aren't flying within 72 hours to not call. I saw once their wait time was 18 hours!
It lapsed.
Dang.
I considered renewing with the discount but even without the discount, it made more sense to let it lapse and have it last a year from when we make it back instead of a year from January when it expired.
Makes sense. I'm thinking of the same. Or was. Now not sure what I'm doing.

 Well, that's part of it!

Wasn't the best. But... better safe...

Yes agreed.

Yikes! 18 hours?!

Makes sense. I'm thinking of the same. Or was. Now not sure what I'm doing.

The only thing I'm certain of at this point is that I'm certain of nothing.
