So insider joke...go outside but be responsible....i dont need more business
Please..
Took myself to testing for my bday last week...negative..great present...everyone symptom or not should just see.
Wow. It sure puts things into perspective and the "don't be quick to judge" line is front and centre. Who is to say that he didn't get the virus from one of his patients? I didn't realize that it was a quick round trip and not some vacation in Quebec. I think he definitely deserves a public apology, but his life and reputation is ruined. Thanks for the read. It definitely gives one pause. So, I came across this facebook post this morning and it kinda hit me a tad differently than I thought it would. Take a read and see if it does this to you as well:

The Campbellton doctor who became the focus of much anger and hatred in NB is on my mind.
Here are the facts we were originally given:
* He crossed into Quebec for "personal reasons" and didn't "self-isolate" for 14 days after.
* Premier Higgs directly blamed this man for NB's newest cases (13 positive tests out of a province of 750,000 people)
* Premier Higgs and Jennifer Russell referred to this man as being "irresponsible", endangering other citizens.
* Premier Higgs and Jennifer Russell also said the doctor lied ("was not forthcoming") about the purpose of his trip; I am waiting for evidence of that.
* This man has endured racial slurs (which I saw with my own eyes), public humiliation, and death threats.
* This man's license to practice medicine has been suspended, and he is under investigation by the RCMP.
* Even on my post asking how we can "prove" he got the virus in Quebec, posts about him were vehement.
But...now we have more facts:
* His "personal trip" involved driving to Quebec to pick up his 4-year old daughter. And...child custody crossings are exempt from isolation requirements, though perhaps the doctor didn't know that.
* The girl's mother had to leave Canada to go to her own father's funeral, and the child needed to stay with someone.
* The doctor drove there and straight back...no stops.
* The doctor was publicly vilified as selfish and reckless, first by our premier and chief medical officer, then by citizens.
BUT...to add insult to his injury, here are more facts:
* He wasn't tested for the virus until after Public Health informed him that one of his patients had tested positive.
* Doctors in the Vitalite Network are exempt from the isolation requirements if they are traveling into NB to work. About 25% of ER shifts in that region are covered by doctors traveling into NB from Quebec to work, then return to Quebec . .back and forth freely, no isolation required. We must ask ourselves, how was his round trip into Quebec to get his daughter any more of a danger to NB than doctors who work in Quebec hospitals one day, then in NB hospitals the next? Or who simply travel in to work but live in Quebec??
* Many nurses in Quebec and NB also work cross-province, and have throughout this pandemic.
* Many employees at the care facility affected now ALSO live in Quebec and were traveling into NB to work....in that facility. How was his round trip, to pick up a 4-year-old daughter, more dangerous to NB than those workers crossing that same border for every shift?
* The doctor and his daughter have both tested positive (only because his patient did, remember), but both are completely asymptomatic. How many more asymptomatic people are there...meaning the virus could be far less severe than is being promoted?
Why were our premier and chief medical officer so quick to publicly say such details about this man, when so many other doctors and health care workers cross that same border EVERY SINGLE DAY, to work in our hospitals and care homes, without isolating?
Did they just not know about all these exemptions (Ms. Russell seemed surprised by these facts)?
Or were they just looking for a convenient scapegoat, and this man fit the bill because his was a "selfish" and "reckless" personal trip, and that creates more justification for continued shutdowns than if the facts pointed to a doctor or nurse who traveled in for the express purpose of working a shift?
Or, were they just blinded by anger at new cases, and didn't stop to think that this man was tested because one of his patients tested positive, which means the doctor could have caught it from that patient?
I hope this man gets a public apology, and a big fat lawsuit settlement out of what was done to him.

You are 100% correct. I read the articles about him at first as though he'd gone to hang out with a girlfriend. I guess the rumor mills had already been going when I saw it. When I heard it was to pick up his daughter, I felt, well rather embarrassed that I assumed the worst of him. I agree, the Premier is at fault here and was probably playing politics. Uncalled for. I hope he gets his licence and job back. So, I came across this facebook post this morning and it kinda hit me a tad differently than I thought it would. Now that some restrictions on health care have been lifted in Ontario i thought it would be decent for me to share some information my hubby got from Health Benefit plan we use regarding dentists. It came as a complete shock to us!!
I'm cutting & pasting directly from the letter:

Ok, fine, i guess that makes sense sorta, but it is a bit concerning, right? wait for it ...

Some of the costs may relate to fewer patients / customers per hour. That amount is ridiculous! 15-20$ maybe but 50-75$ is ridiculous! Medical grade PPE is not that expensive!! They don’t need a disposable armor, they would need a mask (most expensive would be N95), a disposable gown, gloves and a visor. Most visors/eye protecti
Some of the costs may relate to fewer patients / customers per hour.
Many of the services have extended the booking slot times to ensure their is no overlap and to allow for cleaning between them.
Depending on the booking blocks, assuming a 15 minute 'cleaning gap', they could be reducing revenue by a third for half hour slots or 25% for 45 minute slots etc. With a limited foot print, even if they hire someone to do the cleaning they would not be able to get the same turn over so suffer a total revenue loss unless there was some way to extend their hours with some kind of shifting. Same rent, same salaries, lower revenue.
This is on top of any additional cost.
Yes, (large being a relative amount)So should restaurants charge a large extra amount because they have extra cleaning and can have less customers? How about retail stores. The cost of gloves, masks and claening supplies for a store like ikea must be huge, what if there was a covid fee for everything you bought? Every business is paying the same rent, salaries and have lover revenue, why shoudl a dentist get to charge $50-$75
