Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

So looks like our speculations on resort guests having first priority on reservations is confirmed for WDW at least. I imagine we’ll see the same for Disneyland. Despite the protests my wallet made, I’m feeling very happy we’re staying on-site!

Notice that you have to pick a time to enter the park... becoming more and more curious if you can leave and re-enter... Not a good sign if a specific time is required? But also trying to remind myself WDW is much different than DLR and we may see a different approach with things like that.

I know this makes sense from a capacity standpoint and having less people at the gate at the same time, but I hate the idea of having a shorter day. Will people that get earlier admissions have to leave earlier (don't know how they could enforce that).

I'm wondering what time will the reservation system go live on their respective dates. 12:01 am EST, 6:00 / 7:00 am EST? It would be nice if Disney would give us that information.

I'm hoping that Good Neighbor vacation packages are considered part of the resort guest for DL too!

Also very curious to see any differences between WDW and DL.

I really think the timed entry is to prevent crowding at the gate. It doesn’t do any good to cap attendance at 20,000 people, if all of them show up at the same time and stand in a giant mob in the Esplanade. My predictions is that there will be no compensation or reduced price tickets for people who arrive later; admittedly, this does give them a shorter day and would be a material drawback for people who want to go rope drop to close. My family is a solid 6 hours in the park per day group, especially with masks and no nap, so we could be pretty flexible with our arrival time. The rest of the day would be swimming, eating at restaurants outside the park, watching movies in the hotel, etc. I’m conflicted on whether I think Disney will allow reentry. I don’t think they will allow park hopping.

If DLR looks anything like the staggered dates for booking, listed in Katie's posts on the reopening super thread, the argument that there is "no reason to stay on property" should be moot. The most obvious thing is during the first week of theme park operation at the DLR the hotels will not be open, so there will have to be modifications to the reservation plan from WDW to DLR, at least initially, if they are to be mirrored in any way.

I know we've posted on this quite a few times, but now that we see that resort guests will have a separate designation, do we think that will include people with vacation packages that usually have tickets delivered to the hotel desks? I can't see how they wouldn't have some system in place for us, but maybe I'm wrong.

I wonder how the Disneyland App will handle linking hotel reservations. That's not currently thing, but it sounds like it is for WDW's app. Maybe they will add that here shortly? I want to be as prepared as possible when things do go live so I'm glad they're doing a little heads up on this release. Gives me hope we'll get a little heads up on ours.

THIS!!!

(grain of salt needed...) I talked with CM last Friday when I had to move my vacation dates and she said that I should be receiving an email with a link to use in order to make park reservations. You would think that if you made your vacation package reservation through DL that they would have all of the information they need to include you: dates of your trip, number of tickets and what kind were purchased, etc. You would probably only be able to make park reservations for the dates of your vacation package, which is what I want to do.

I'm just hoping that we are included somehow above the general population date. I want to be able to enter a park each day of our vacation. I understand if they take away Park Hopping and MaxPass, but I don't see the point in going and spending the money if I can't use all five days worth inside a park.

From WDW board...@yulilin3 WDW Theme Park COVID-19 Operations Info Thread - On Topic Posts Only - MK & DAK Open 7/11, EP & DHS Open 7/15 Board

Ok got some info
As we know park hopping will not be an option but people are allowed to leave the park and come back to the same park later
Also the system opens at 7am for booking you can use the app or website
No word yet on how many reservations an AP can hold but people with a resort reservation can book for the number of days they have tickets (length of stay) so it will behave just like getting fps

I think they will allow park re-entry. I think about all of the times we came back to Disneyland in the evening after a break. There was never a line line there is in the morning.

We have a vacation package through Costco, but also have annual passes so I am very curious how this will all work. I kind of like the idea of a link being sent because it's like proof that they have a plan for my arrival, sort of? But I also wonder if that's just for people who have packages directly through DL and not the middle man like Costco? At least my updated confirmation from Costco shows my GCH reservation/upgrade from DLH. That felt good.

Do you have your ticket numbers? Everything that I have seen is that if you have ticket numbers you should be able to book park reservations. I don't have ticket numbers because we are supposed to get our physical tickets when we check-in at The Tropicana. But I booked our vacation package through DL, so they should have all of that information...

I've also wondered if they could just email their vacation package holders digital tickets before the park reservation system opens. Shouldn't be too hard to do that...

I have tickets purchased through getawaytoday.com and was provided with vouchers only so no hard tickets yet either. I emailed Disney this morning to see if I can get some info on how this will work when trying to make a reservation. I’ll share when I get a response.
I’m thinking maybe onsite guests will get to make a reservation with the assumption that they already have tickets???

Yes, we have APs, so we should be good, I'm just a little uneasy because we're going through Costco. It seems like one extra step or wrench that could cause a problem. Though I will say I had to call yesterday to correct the spelling on the last name for someone on our reservation and I didn't even have to hold, they just answered the phone. It was magic.

It sounds like the voucher number will work though so you should be good to go. I have nothing except the fact that I have my reservation through DL. Their system should know exactly when I plan to be there and how many tickets and what kind I purchased. I see a phone call in the future once their plans have been announced if this isn't easily spelled out for people.

Now I’m all excited and nervous again. I hope California announces approval of the theme park reopening dates soon. I don’t think we will get specific DL information before then. Does anyone know when the other CA theme parks are trying to reopen?

Yep! Come on California - announce something, anything! I want to know park hours and have dining reservations open up :)

I feel the same way re: our Sept PPH reservation!

The WDW confirms what many of us suspected...that resort guests DO have first priority...BUT the guests have to take action. Getting a park reservation is not automatic...just like getting a FP+ is not an automatic or guaranteed thing. It looks like at WDW, on site resort guests have 4 days' lead time before it opens to AP holders. So if you snooze, you lose.

I wonder when they will announce when ticket sales were resume. This is my biggest question. I get they want to limit is as much as possible but we postponed a trip to October and 2 of the 5 need tickets and 1 of the APs will probably expire based on the current extensions.

I have commented this before but if our entire family can't have APs renewed the non-expired APs are useless as we all go together.

Sigh, we get some stuff answered and then a ton more questions!
