New CDC Outdoor Guidance

Figured they would start increasing capacity right away...but I wonder by how much? They have got to start bringing back more offerings to absorb more people though...
I think they've been quietly increasing capacity before this, we're seeing that in increased ticket availability popping up on the calendar, I'm not sure we'll get a specific percentage announced though. They might just keep steadily working their way up until they're back to full.

Makes sense to me.

I think you are way off base here.

Outdoor masks will be gone way before October.
I think they will as well but I also think people should be grounded in their expectations when booking discretionary travel. Disney has priorities and they're not going to rush into this. I would bet on them being one of the last places in Florida to remove the requirements.

believe as you wish but mask changes are coming sooner than you want.

Other parks are already only masks inline/on rides and inside. They already police blizzard beach with different mask rules.

DL has pretty much no affect on wdw, which the parks are even now not the same for rules. There will almost always be unfilled capacity especially with an increase that is coming soon.
No sure where you got the idea that it's what "I want."

Other parks have also allowed people to eat/drink while walking and a bunch of other questionable behaviors.

The Silver Annual Pass is also completely blocked out for June and July. It's likely they're shifting availability from the AP bucket to the other two.

Edited to add: 'also'

I don't see WDW removing mask requirements until:
1. Parks have capacity available that is going unfilled
2. Disneyland is fully open
3. There aren't gray areas in the rules. (masks required in indoor spaces but not outdoor, required in crowded areas, etc.) It's too difficult for cast members to enforce otherwise.

Hope for the best and plan for the worst. Anyone planning for a trip before October should just assume that masks will be required IMO. It requirement may be removed before then but that should be a surprise instead of an expectation.

Newsome said he will drop the mask mandate for California on June 15. I don’t see DL having any effect on WDW.

Are you ok with Disney checking for a vaccine card to get entry into the park then?
I'd have no issue. Disney would have to convince FL to change policy. Not likely in FL.

I can see vaccination being required in other countries, and even in CA.

I bought 6 packs of masks just to try to trick Disney into dropping the outside mask mandate for my mid June trip. Looks like things are looking up and my plan of wasting $60 is working just like I hoped! I really don’t want to wear a mask outside in June and today’s news gives me hope!

We’re mid June too and I’m really trying not to get my hopes up. I want no masks outside so bad but I think we may just miss it.

Even on just this thread, it's interesting how public opinion is definitely shifting and gaining momentum to at the very least, drop the outdoor requirement. Prior to now, Disney was the #1 place many people wanted to go for a CovidSafe vacation. That doesn't seem to be the attitude I hear now. Instead, it's "we have a Disney vacation planned, even though we have to wear masks." Subtle, but powerful change in perspective that coupled with today's announcement, should have Disney executives talking.

I’m praying they get rid of masks! I work outside and it is miserable. I have been fully vaccinated along with many others there. Unless they mark our forehead, no one will know who and who has not been vaccinated so this ruling makes no sense. Get rid of masks for those who do not want to wear them and for those who want to wear them, be my guest.

Yeah I think today's announcement will be enough for a lot of hesitant folks to book. At this rate this summer Disney and the other parks won't be able to reopen things quickly enough (shows, hotels, food). It' going to be a crazy summer in Orlando for sure after a lot of people not taking vacations for over a year + stimulus cash.

I hope they drop the masks outdoors before my summer trip! But as someone bringing an under 2 who can’t wear a mask or get vaccinated, I hope they give plenty of warning for when they eventually drop masks indoors. I would want to reschedule my trip if that happened. I don’t think that will happen anytime soon though since the CDC made these recommendations for only vaccinated people and children can’t be vaccinated yet.

Yes, I don’t really want a big V marked on my forehead, but I will do it if it means I can ditch the mask.

I wouldn’t count any changes to have much heads up, maybe a week .

It feels like it would be fairly simple and even easier for them to say masks are only needed in lines and indoors. It's easier on the workers because you're not having to patrol all these wide open spaces with hundreds of people trying to stop people as they walk by and then discern if someone is truly stationary while they eat and drink (not to mention the pointlessness of trying to confront a 2 year old in a stroller without a mask). Nobody is in the Wal-Mart parking lot telling you to put on the mask, they do it at the door when you're walking inside.
