We currently do not produce our own vaccines (this will be changing) so we've had to rely on other countries and their delivery schedules. In the beginning of the year the deliveries were delayed by manufacturers but now they have really picked up and we have vaccinated nearly as many people as the US has with FIRST doses. We are delaying the second dose longer than the 3-4 weeks due to delivery delays and to get as many first doses in arms as we can. However, now that are deliveries have picked up and we are getting more and more they are probably going to lessen the time between first and second doses but it's up to each province to decide that.So has Canada been really slow for vaccines, or what's the deal? Haven't had time to read it all.
We are open to ages 12+ in my province. I don't anyone right now who isn't vaccinated (first dose) or doesn't have an appointment. So has Canada been really slow for vaccines, or what's the deal? Haven't had time to read it all.
I wish the US was as stigent as Canada. I know so many people getting Covid yet, it is so under reported and our hospitals are full. In Wisconsin people are refusing the vaccination. We are only at 30%. Leave it to Wisconsin to bring the vaccination to the bars and offer a free beer if they are willing to get vacinated. In Ontario we are at 58% with adults first dose.
First stage would start June 14th.
They want us to be 60% for his first stage which is 10 people together outside. Campsites , camps and outdoor religious services are allowed. Then wait 21 days for second stage has to be at 70% first doses. Then it goes up to 25 people. This stage I can get a hair cut...
But Saturday golf ,tennis , soccer etc. No patio dining that is first stage with 4 at a table. 6 in stage 2. But you can do these sports things with 5 people outside your household.
Border closed until June 21 now.
It’s going to be a long....Summer
The kids are not returning to in person school, they only have a month left before summer break.
That doesn't surprise me. I've been saying for a while now I don't see it reopening until September.Apparently prime minister Trudeau said last week that he predicts the border won't reopen until sometime this fall.
Even if that's how it works out I think he'd be much wiser to start setting actual bench-marks for re-opening. Between the overly grave and dramatic delivery of his press conferences and the (IMO) muddled and alarming messages coming from Chief Public Health Officer Tam and NACI, I'm not real thrilled with the Feds right now.Apparently prime minister Trudeau said last week that he predicts the border won't reopen until sometime this fall.
So jealous.
They have cancelled everything under the sun here. And I don't get it, as the science has been clear - as of this point without new variants - about the lack of outside transmission.
Certainly not a problem here in Calgary. Just in time for long-weekend camping, it's snowing and -2. Happy Victoria Day!!I still think that I will believe it when I see it. Yesterday they closed down Oka beach for a few hours because hundreds were not socially distanced outside. The pictures were like people on top of each other, and then I thought to myself, they are outside . I guess with this heat people are going in droves.
Are you watching the Hockey (off topic)? I was eating supper, and could not finish after watching Tavares getting hurt. Accidental, but still. ☹
We are melting here in Ontario....going to be 30 Celsius and that isn’t with the humidex . Felt like 32 today.Certainly not a problem here in Calgary. Just in time for long-weekend camping, it's snowing and -2. Happy Victoria Day!!

I disagree it will be a long summer. By July amusement parks will be open among other things. The only thing closed will be casinos and indoor dining. In Ontario we are at 58% with adults first dose.

As of this morning, Canada has now passed The States in % of population with their first dose.
% of Canadians: 48.573%
% of Americans: 48.2%
Now, we are still lagging far behind on second doses, only 3.3% of our population is fully vaccinated compared to 38.1% of Americans.
But we're getting there finally!
The fact that we don't manufacture our own vaccines is not a new issue, this has been going on for decades. But now going forward we WILL be manufacturing our own. Too bad it took a global pandemic to get things moving on that front, thoughI would have never guessed any of this. I mean there's more people in CA than Canada. Hopefully they can be more prepared in the future.
