We have a lagoon view booked in August. Since CL will not be returning for quite some time, does anyone think they will open rooms in the HI longhouse for lagoon and TPV reservations w/o CL? Our TA seems to think so...

Thx!☺🌺

It really depends on why Poly CL doesn’t have a reopening date. If it’s a staffing issue, then I don’t see why they wouldn’t use Hawaii, especially since it has some of the best views in both categories and an arguably better location than the other longhouses that have lagoon and TPV rooms. If it’s because Hawaii is last on the list to be renovated than they wouldn’t.

I’m leaning more towards the latter for a few reasons:

1. Hawaii has one of the biggest lounges on property so if the renovations were done, one would think that would be a prime target to allocate staff to first, since capacity issues would be less of a problem there.

2. I imagine the lounge is going to get some kind of renovation to bring it more in line with the new rooms. That would be a more complicated undertaking that they may have put off towards the end of the renovations (especially if they were anticipating not being able to open CL in any capacity until later in the year).

3. The fact that Poly was totally sold out and subsequently new rooms opened up in October suggests they weren’t planning to have all longhouses complete when the hotel side of Poly reopened.

The main argument that it’s a staffing issue seems to me that Poly is among the resorts with the most CL rooms and maybe they wanted to maximize the number of resorts in as many areas at which CL could open. If you look at it, they are opening the only moderate with CL by opening GFT, they are opening a lodge with WL, they are opening BWI for Crescent Lake, and they opened RPC and CR for the monorail resorts, so they didn’t need Poly yet.

I imagine we will have a better idea when Poly non-DVC reopens.

I miss my Spiky Pineapples aka Dole Whip with rum. I should have brought insulin with me on my last trip I had so many. ;)
I got that at the oasis pool bar in March FYI. I didn’t see it on the menu but just asked if they had it. (I didn’t have my readers on lol)

I visited a friend at GF last week. They had a room in the main building aka a closed RPC CL. Gf has spread tables all around the Atrium on all floors 3,4,and 5. Like seating for so many I can’t imagine they’d need that many. It gets close to full but I’ve always gotten a table there(some on 5ht floor usually empty).

When I compare that to poly I struggle to see how they’d have room is they try to social distance the seating. Poly can get full at peak times. If you have to space out then it’s harder. Also the food area is NOT conducive to distancing. If they do a plexiglass and keep everything behind it’s still pretty tight. They have to do the beverages differently too.

I have CR cl and I’m worried already. They are limiting capacity and said put in a queue. I have both Atrium and Tower and now leaning to tower cl. However that’s a king so my DH won’t be able to sneak down a day.

Hopefully wdw follows local things and they loosen up by fall.

All we can do iswatch for 1st reports and go from there. I have a poly std in Dec I’d love them to add cl for that. Fingers crossed, I sure do love poly cl.

We have club level booked in August. I was told I will get a phone call 30 days out if my reservation needs to be modified I was also told if you have club level booked they will keep you in Hawaii, I'm hoping this is true. So it may depend on how many people were already booked there.

I don't think they would open this place if they didn't think the monorail would be stopping there by then. Heres hoping
They could also just want it as a "soft open" a week or two ahead of the resort so they can ramp up a bit with new staff and new menus. It's almost like launching a brand-new restaurant, right? But still -- fingers crossed...

When Cape May opened for reservations, they didn’t become available till regular booking time (6 am). I know it didn’t open earlier because I was up until 1:30 am that evening/morning and checked a few times - as well as again around 5:30 am. Good luck! 🙂

I haven’t decided yet. I’m in noodle and shrimp protest atm lol
