State of Fast Pass Return (or replacement)

Did some more digging, The Shanghai resorts (there are only 2) give you one "free" front of line access passes per person each day if you book day before. (that may just be common practice when buying tickets out there.) Sorry to say, I think we are gonna see this as our onsite perk in Florida. Maybe Deluxe gets 3, mods get 2, and values get 1.

They would have to charge out the nose for a skip the line pass at Disney World for it not to be an issue. I know a lot of people are on a tight budget when they go, but a great many are not. Paying 40 bucks for my family to skip any line wouldn't be as much of a shock as paying 6$ for a bottle of water and13$ for a stupid Mickey shaped pretzel.

Eight euros = $10 x 4 people = $40 x 3 rides per day = $120. Okay kids, we can ride a few rides today or eat.
.
Oh, I forgot to add that we just paid $2,500 just to get into the parks.
.
Better be there on a slow day for that. Prices go up from there. And hope they don't bundle things so you have to buy 2 other attractions you don't care as much about.

I think some folks are misunderstanding me.
I don't think paying $10 for one ride ONCE per day would work at WDW. There's just too many rides. It's just too big.

I DO hope we'll have something along the lines of free FPs for on-site guests and PAID FPs for off-site guests.

IF they give 3 comps per day, then the rest of it doesn't matter for us. And if they add in that standby pass- we are good to go. The problem is, they don't seem to be ready to introduce anything new, not willing to start up what they have that currently works.

I agree with you to a point. People vacation differently at WDW than they do at the other parks. They are there longer, and the do more. That being said WDW would be an easy place to insert micro-transactions for things like rides because people have much deeper pockets there. So long as they limited the amount of people who could buy in an hour, and kept the price low, they would clean up. People would pay, because they can afford to. The whole idea of it leaves a bad taste in my mouth though. It's like the video gaming industry charging extra for DLC. Sure you already paid to play...but if you want the good stuff...pay more.

I don’t see how Shanghai and DLP prices could work in the US simply because families are bigger here and those prices would lock so many out.

Just an opinion. Don't let what happens at other parks lead you to what will happen at WDW. Similar? In some aspects. Carbon copy? Nope. Platform is more complex at WDW and requires more cross functioning and compatible programs

How about this: Three(3) FREE Fastpass++ tickets each day to guest staying onsite. You don't have to make a reservation, it is tied to MDE, ride any time, only good for Fastpass rides, ??

Everything is just speculation and rumor at this point. Although I am also hoping for an option that gives on-site guests free fast passes, and makes off-site guests have to pay. Disney really needs to get back to offering incentives for staying on-site.

Regardless, I want FP back. We're not morning people. We like to sleep in, and are happy knowing that each day after lunch, we have some FPs to use.

I DON'T want them to move to Universal's model. I hate how expensive it is. We only do Universal every few years, but we're DVC, so we do Disney every year. I don't need that insane extra price every year.
If they went with universals system of the premium/deluxe hotels getting it for free, you'd get it included with DVC stays just like the extra evening hours since DVC are deluxe resorts. I'd be perfectly ok with them going to Universals system.

And this is why I don't expect to see an exact copy of this at WDW. DLP is much smaller, fewer rides. I believe they have 8 rides available on this system so while it sounds awful, it's not like there are dozens of rides to choose from.

I think I like it. We'd have to see in practice, but what's the big complaint with Rise of the Resistance virtual queue? That all the passes for the day are gone within moments. This SEEMS like it would be an antidote for that.

People snatch up the RotR passes, because why not? There's no trade off for not doing it. This system would introduce a cost. Yes, you could snag a RotR pass for 7 pm, but that means its would likely be your only headliner of the day. Do you really want that? Or do you want to grab that 9:30 am Slinky Dog and then do some walk-ons and shopping in the meantime, before grabbing a RotR pass for later in the day?

Hence, the math. €8 for one ride. That's $10 USD. $40 for a family of 4. Want 3 rides apiece? $40 ×3 = $120.

While not a fan of this system, it's not like you'd pay that for every ride. There's nothing to stop anyone from riding standby- and this system has a standby pass option for busier times.

absolutely hate the new DLP system from the sounds of it (can't properly judge until ive experienced it) but it sounds awful from my point of view, nothing but a pure money grab (yes yes i know, they are a business they need to make money yadayadayada). I have nothing against value adds and charging for that but they are simply diminishing the product for everyone trying to coerce you into spending more money to get back some of what you previously had.

Honestly, while steep, I am not sure it is that it that much more expensive than market prices (especially if everyone staying onsite get 1 to 2 for free.) It is just more in your face because you are buying them one at a time. I can see where a package makes this appear better. For example, you get 1 free for staying at a value resort and then for $30, you can purchase a set of 3 additional fast passes for the day. You bake in the $30 onto the ticket cost since you know you want the fast pass and then once you burn through your 4, you are out for the day unless you are desperate for another.

The big loser in this system are those who have mastered the fastpass system and get 8, 10, 12 in a single day by constantly banging on their phone as fast as they can. That will become cost prohibitive, and honestly I suspect this group will lose in any version of a paid system.
