It's really going to be interesting to see how something like this goes over at DLR. The APs are still trying to adjust to having to pay top dollar for park entry. Overlay a system where they need to pay for rides too and there could be a revolt.

Especially when MaxPass was so simple and efficient. Figure it was $20 per person, per day pre-covid. This would be a huge price jump if that turns into about $10 per person per ride- talk about a definite hike. And I wonder how this would impact the standby line? Not cool Disney.

And at a time when affordable APs were available.

Doing the math and we are a family of 3 who typically will get 6-9 fast passes per day in the parks. Sometimes more if we are really on top of it. 60$ for all 3 of us to get unlimited or over 100$ to pay per ride? We simply can't afford to pay that much in which case we would probably still go to Disney, but might spend more time off property because we honestly are wimps and don't like waiting more than 40 minutes for a GOOD ride (7DMT or Slinky Dog are worth it for our family). Time will tell but god dang if this is true...

So many rumors flying that this is definitely coming to the states. I don’t know man. I’m not liking this. For the week we want to go in November, 8 day hoppers are $700+ Per person. Then add paying for FP. Insanity. Our last trip was amazing so if that was our last trip I’m good with it.

I hate being the "low class whiner" (thank you FB groups) because I KNOW there are many people who can 100% afford this and will do it without complaint and I don't want to admit that Disney has priced us out of our yearly trips but that's where my heart is. We've made an annual trip possible for cheap and have helped a lot of other middle classers in our tiny midwestern town do the same. I kind of pride myself on showing friends and family that Disney doesn't have to be this once in a lifetime bucket list extravagantly expensive trip.

I’m not sure how I feel about this new FP rumor. If this is true, staying deluxe will no longer be an option for us; extra money will go towards buying FP, but I do hope those staying onsite - value to deluxe - will receive a FP or two free each day of our stay as a perk for staying onsite.

If this comes to pass at WDW, we COULD afford it if we wanted to, but at the cost of other things. It would mean fewer table service restaurants, maybe fewer days total, maybe fewer trips in a given year, fewer "extras" (dessert parties, after hours, EMM, etc). So I don't think you are alone, lots of people wouldn't pay it, at least not without complaint :)

We could technically afford it but I highly doubt we would pay it. There’s so many other places you can vacation and get way more bang for your buck. Paying to get into the park then paying just to ride rides is a bit too much.

I very much hope that the decision makers for WDW and DL and DLP are all watching, reading, and feeling the negative responses to this DLP FP announcement. I know DLP is run differently than the stateside parks, but it still has the Disney name on it. This new system is gross. As a huge Disney fan, I don't always agree with everything Disney does, but usually I understand it. I don't agree with, nor do I understand the alienating that is currently happening.

I am sure they are reading the comments on the two biggest Social Media DLP channels, ED92 and Pixiedust.be. These two have a big reach and are always invited to press events. They have posted the news and the comment sections are filling up. Most are negative. Others hope that with the removal of the FP lines, the regular lines will go much faster and that only a very small percentage will use the new paid options.

We really have to wait and see how the virtual queues work out, they haven't had a chance yet to test this. Even if they start with testing in August, with lowered capacity it's hard to simulate a normal operating park. It might be a year before we really know how it all works.

There’s gotta be more than just $10 FPs if WDW went that route. It couldn’t stand all by itself as the revamped system. WDW PR is too crafty to dump something like that without offering other positive details to soften the blow.

We have a weekend trip in December with friends and are going to HS and MK. Hoping for a MVMCP/Dessert Party. Watching FP news.

Also have 6 nights following that at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and am holding off buying our 5 day park passes waiting to hear what's going on with FP/events.

I am already peeved at the Deluxe Evening EMH. If they go paid FP, I will make that weekend trip my last and cancel WBC.

I doubt that WDW or DL would go the route of $10FP, but I don't like that those who go to DLP have that as their FP option. It just doesn't look or feel right.

I really don't care too much about FP+ but I always stay on property and do use it for a few rides. I won't ever pay . We were there over the weekend and normally let most things go but decided that if they are charging top dollar for rooms and other things , including FP+ 'maybe', I will expect no problems...well we had a couple small problems and called the front desk ..long story short, we were given $200 for their mistakes , enough to pay for our great dinner at Topolino's..:)

A pay-per-ride system makes it easier to reward onsite guests. Perhaps 1 free fp for everyone staying at value resorts, 2 for mods, 3 for deluxe resorts. Seems reasonable when you're charging $200-$800 per night for the hotels. They have already shown that people are willing to pay those ridiculous proces for hotels, even with reduced entertainment and no Perks. I see no reason for prices to fall any time soon.

I don't really see how it makes it easier to reward anyone. Everyone pays close to the same amount to go to the parks (variables in AP, day ticket, hopper, season, whatever). No one benefits for having to pay extra per ride on top of the already paid admission price. It doesn't matter what hotel you stay at. The hotel cost doesn't get you in the park.

This . They are going to have to offer something , and a few free fast passes with a paid upgrade option would at least soften the blow a bit. But who the heck is going to pay what they are asking for their Deluxe hotels and pay fastpass on top ? It’s insulting at that point . And if people pay it , they deserve it .

that’s not how Disney feels about extra evening hours for deluxe guests and I feel they do the same route for fast passes for on site guests

Agreed, and that is why, in anticipation of people leaving the deluxes for moderates, Disney threw them a bone in the form of evening EMH. Will it be enough to keep them paying those insane prices? Time will tell. I also see them offering onsite guests tiered free fp's according to hotel category.
