OHANA Opens 7/9 - AWAITING REVIEWS :|

I cancelled ours. We had an 8:35 for HEA but I didn't want to pay for "not so good food" just to watch fireworks. We have two other days at MK. I'm sure I made someone happy! :-)

Fireworks views at ’Ohana are wonderful, but your chances of getting that view aren’t great. At least two thirds (if not more) of the tables are away from the windows, and some of them in the side areas have no view at all. In probably ten trips to ‘Ohana, we’ve only once gotten a back window view, and once at the side window.

I always tell people that if seeing the fireworks is your objective, book dinner earlier then walk down to the beach to watch. You can always grab a drink to go from Tambu, and the views are better. :)

I'd say very few people actually eat the amount of food required to "break even" on a buffet/ACYE meal.

This concept is so weird to me. Like, how do you determine what the cost of the food is anyway? Are you thinking about how much it would cost in groceries? Because that doesn't make sense at a restaurant. I mean, when you eat at a signature restaurant, that piece of steak doesn't cost $55. Of COURSE you could make it cheaper at home, but you're paying for the EXPERIENCE and the food prep as well.

For me, any buffet can be worth any price if the food and experience is good, regardless of the quantity of food I eat. My stomach is pretty small so I can't eat too much but I'd pay $50 for a buffet with high quality food.

I will pay more for buffets because I LOVE variety. It's so much fun to be able to try different foods and desserts, especially at places that offer some items from cuisines other than what I eat all the time (like Germany or Africa). If I don't like it, hey, I got to try it and there's always the kids section with nuggets and pasta for emergencies. :D

We are on the fence about this. I figure we can get close to the same experience at Kona. There are four of us and we could get all four of the entrees for half what Ohana would cost. To make it equal to Ohana we would have to throw in some appetizers and desserts. But it would still be cheaper and we could get exactly what we want. We usually walk to the beach to watch fireworks because we like to eat earlier and never get a good view seat (well maybe once). Any other opinions?

That's our plan.

There are other issues, but the casseole is almost singlehandedly tanking the reputation.

Truly hope it’s gone by November, but if not, it will be the first time I seek out a restaurant manager just to honestly ask - How can you not make a change when this item is being universally destroyed?

Massive overreactions here. "Tanking the reputation"? It's still booked solid every single day.

Disney blogs and a message board are far from constituting universal hatred. Fandoms, including this one, often lack perspective outside of their community.

Ohana was “booked solid” the moment reservations opened up - based on past reputation. There have been many on this thread alone who have cancelled since the reviews started. The reviews on Yelp, Tripadvisor, etc have also been poor. If it continues reputation will eventually follow as will reservations.

You pulled the same act with noodles. No one should complain, perspective, bend over etc etc. You were wrong then and will be again.

The casserole 😩… I mean they have to replace it soon…right?

As someone who has eaten there, it’s not only the casserole. The oven baked chicken has no place on the menu. The steak was almost raw. The sauce on the wings tastes good but as soon as you actually eat the chicken, it was tasteless. The kielbasa tasted like the ones you get in a store. It wasn’t a bad meal but it was no where near as good as pre changes. Won’t be returning

Hopefully things get better as they continue because the servers were so nice and so happy to be back at work

The reactions here acting like people's lives were ruined over cheap noodles was a massive overreaction. People were certainly free to complain, but shouting into the void a message board is never a productive way to create change. I'm not sure how I was wrong about anything. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, but there are more important things in life to get my emotional energy than a side dish at a Disney World restaurant.

Honestly, for the price (and yes, I understand that its Disney) its not an overreaction at all - Its not just the Shrimp Casserole--- the skewers are gone, its not like the Casserole is a side dish- Its supposed to be a main part of the meal. As far as the restaurant being booked solid-- thats definitely going to change if the menu doesnt change some. A number of ppl, just on these boards, have been cancelling. I needed to switch a time for our reservation, and in the last two days, had a choice of an 8:35PM, and a 5:35PM.
