Rise of the Resistance...ride discussion (spoilers)

Just got back from our trip and rode RoR on Friday April 30. It was our first time on the ride and we just walked through the storm trooper room.I didn’t realize that we had missed a whole section until reading this and looking up a video.
is skipping that whole pre-ride bit a Covid thing? Or have they been doing this and we just got a “bad day”?

It’s not a covid thing. Usually the whole ride happens. Other times the first part gets skipped. I assume because of a breakdown.

It sucks you have to be lucky twice. Once to get a boarding group and again to have the whole ride working.

Just got back from Disney World and was able to go on RoR once while there. However, they weren’t doing the pre-show that day. It’s likely our next vacation to Disney will be Land not World. Are they the same ride at both parks?

Yes, they are identical in every way that is perceived by a guest.

we skipped the entire preshow for the ride and the initial ship.
The first time we rode, we saw the entire ride.
The second day, we did the pre-shows and then the lights flashed on. We walked out to get on the transport ship, but then they ushered us down a hallway where we came out where the transport ship would have taken us. The rest of the ride was the same, but losing the transport lost a lot of the story if that was your only time on the ride.

I rode multiple days in October, December and March and have never skipped the preshow. I'm so sorry to you all who did, but it's not a covid thing unless it's changed since March.

Yeah not a coivd thing. They just will skip the preshow/shuttle instead of shutting down the ride. Happened to me in November. Better than not riding it at all in the end.

I agree. I was happy there was a way to experience most of the ride when part breaks down instead of losing the entire ride.
Would have been worse if that was my only time on the ride.
Still amazing.

This happened to us yesterday. We’ve been on the ride before but it was still disappointing. Especially after all the effort to get a BG. I know they can’t do anything for guest recovery for this particular attraction, but it would be a nice gesture to give a FP to another ride to make up for it.

Yeah you really have to get lucky twice. I go again on Monday. I'm not getting my hopes up for the preshow based on how often it goes down.

If I even get a boarding group at all of course ha.

Just rode for the first time on the 17th. They had a lot of issues that day, and I could tell the CM's were exasperated. We were in line forever until they finally called it, and gave everyone recovery FP's. Went back later and as soon as I got there, it was down again. Waited right at the ride area and as soon as it was back up, jumped in line, and right onto the ride. Pre-show was working.

Sounds like there has been trouble all week since it never even opened yesterday. Have family there today, hoping to ride for the first time. Sadly, not looking good for today either.

Looks like it got going. Hopefully your family is able to ride!

Thanks! They did! They sent a picture from the storm trooper room. I haven’t heard back how they liked it but I’m so happy for them that they got to go on.

edit to add: not 1 of them is a Star Wars fan, they weren’t even sure if they wanted to try for it. But they’re with a friend who has ridden 4 times already, so they have someone to talk them thru everything, lol.

We rode Rise twice on our last trip. The first time we got the full ride but the second time with my DD21 we skipped the preshow. I think that they could have done a better job in the courtyard prepping you for the ride. The CM directing us down the backstage hallway around the ship tried to tell us to remember to keep the base a secret but he didn’t tell us what it was! Then, when we arrived in the storm trooper room it was just a mess. No interaction from the first order characters, they were just say acting like normal CMs directing traffic. We were in and out of the storm trooper room in a few seconds without any understanding of what was going on. It was very disappointing. The CMs loading the ride were totally on point, though. And the ride itself was wonderful.

I've now ridden the ride once in Disney World and once in Disneyland this week. I had an A+ experience in Disney World and in Disneyland it wasn't at that level. There were no special interactions with the first order CM's in Disneyland. It made me wonder if there was a reason for that aside from the random chance of that particular ride. It's the aspect of the attraction that sets it apart from anything else and I hope they aren't getting away from it.

I rode Rise once on July 10th during my four day Disney World solo trip. The ride lived up to expectations and THEN some just an amazing experience for a Star Wars fan like myself. I got lucky in that I got a boarding group at 7 AM that day and then got the whole experience on the ride (pre shows and all). One question, during the part where you are on the transport ship are there suppose to be like motion/ rumble effects? Like we are suppose to be flying in a transport ship with Beck and then get caught by a tractor beam before going into the Star Destroyer with the Stormtroppers. Just seems like a missed opportunity to make that section of the ride feel more immersive if it doesn't have effects.

It does move and rumble. There must have been an issue when during your experience.
