Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hey all! From another thread, housekeeping returns to Yacht/Beach!
We checked into the Yacht Club today for a short three night stay. I'll let you know if we get daily housekeeping or not. Just making the bed would be an improvement over Covid era housekeeping.

I booked a standard view room and made a request for a nice view. I was very glad to see that we got an upgrade to a garden/woods view room. It isn't much of a view but at least it doesn't overlook the flat roof. We also got the exact same room type as we had last month - a king bed room with the shower instead of the tub/shower combo. I love the shower. I will report more about the room after we check out. :)

That doesn’t seem fair

Definitely isn't but I think everyone should get used to these cost cutting measures Disney, and pretty much every other business is taking. My opinion is it's going to be the new normal going forward and people will just get used to it like every other change that's occurring.

No argument. As consumers, we decide what we're willing to accept and what we're willing to pay for.

Why would other deluxe resorts be every day? I don't think that this is correct. I've stayed at Y&B pre-pandemic and it has always been every day, so that's not the "original" cleaning schedule.

We watched Harmonious last night. I noticed that there was a larger than normal crowd of people heading for the Beach Club when it was over. I guess a lot of us were in Epcot last night. :).

We arrived at the YC yesterday and did not get housekeeping today. So we should have it tomorrow.

We got a late start today and arrived at Hollywood Studios at exactly 8:30, when it opened to the general public. What a mob! The park entrance was packed and it took us 16 minutes to get through the touchposts. We hung around for a short time and then went back to the resort. We had a lovely time at SAB. They now have light blue floats for the lazy river. The chair floats are clear.

They were painting the front of the resort above Ale and Compass. The machinery for the high lift was located inside SAB near the tables by the shallow kids pool. The seating area was open and workers didn't really disturb the swimmers.

We are having a great time and haven't ridden a single ride in the two days we've been here. That is a new record for us. :) I'm sure that MK will be crowded tomorrow, too, but we are determined to get there as early as possible so we can take advantage of early opening for resort guests.

Let us know how MK goes because I plan to use the extra 30 mins in the morning, but I have heard a few reports that it doesn't make much difference.

Could I have y'all's thoughts on having 3 adults, 1 teen, and a toddler in 1 deluxe room for 3 or 4 nights? I *really* love BC, but there isn't anymore availability for renting DVC rooms for our dates and 1 deluxe room is cheaper than getting 2 standards. It's me, my husband, my adult sister, and our 2 kids. We're likely going to start off with 2 POP rooms for the first 3-4 days before transitioning over. Otherwise we might need to start at BC (when it's cheaper) and move to POP for the weekend (which I know is less than ideal).

We were at YC from March 4-7, in a GV king room, 2102, overlooking the tennis courts by the quiet pool. Loud neighbors on the last night who smoked on their balcony.

Also, a word of warning about at least the king rooms in that area. We also stayed in a king room there on the first floor on a previous trip and it was identical. While the location is fabulous, the rooms have a very very small bathroom and awkward divided closets. Single sink inside the same room as toilet and shower, very little room to move around, especially because the door opens inwards. Definitely a one-person bathroom. Two small closets on either side of the bathroom door, and the closet doors block the entry hall when open. Really creaky bed with mediocre mattress. Keurig is on a counter above the mini-fridge along with a bar sink. Counter area would be hard to get to if the sofa bed was open. Good room layout for a couple as long as you take turns in the bathroom and don’t try to get ready at the same time.

Got Covid-era cleaning, which translates to very little on such a short stay. One visit, possibly due to the fact I phoned mousekeeping at lunchtime Sunday and prompted them to come. Only a refresh of the bathroom and clean towels, emptied garbages, refreshed coffee supplies, no bed making.

Have to go inside by Yachtsman and then back out to get to the SAB entrance, as a PP said they’ve got equipment at that corner blocking the outside walkway. SAB hours 10am-10pm, quiet pool officially 7am-midnight but no one really monitors the quiet pool as long as you keep a low profile.

Not sure whether it’s a new menu item or not, but the Market at A&C has a ham & cheese on a pretzel bun on the breakfast menu and it’s a huge win. Standard version comes with egg, but there’s an option to leave it off. Soft, toasted delicious pretzel bun. Made the Biergarten pretzel buns look like cold rocks in comparison. Just wow. Best thing I ate all weekend.

The early opening for resort guests is great. Only Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are open early but it is nice to get them out of the way first. You definitely want to get inside MK before the huge mob enters.

You have a very unusual room. We are in a king room now is normal with normal bathroom and closet. Both the Yacht and Beach Club have odd rooms that are a little different. We had a king room something like yours at the Beach Club. It had the single sink inside the bathroom instead of separate and the bar sink. It also had a queen size sofa bed, but there aren't very many of those rooms. :)

We had a King overlooking the YC Tennis Courts in Feb. (3rd floor... maybe the same room you had?)

It had a connecting room with our DD/SIL and GS. We liked the mini-bar - lots of room for the coffee and our wine bottles. :-) The bathroom was smaller than a normal room with sink in with shower and toilet, and the closets were a bit odd, but if kept my stuff organized.

I liked it. Especially having a couch to sit on when family came through to visit. There was also room to park my scooter by the connecting door, so it was out of the way.

That sounds like the room we had at the Beach Club. Our son and grandsons were in the room next door. It had a connecting door. :)

This is day two for us and we had full housekeeping today. They made the bed, swept the floor, replenished supplies, etc, just like the pre-Covid days. It looks really nice. :)

@Wood Nymph
How early would you suggest arriving at MK? What was your experience with the YC bus to MK? We have a reservation at Swalphin this summer, but I really am thinking about changing to YC.

We visited YC last summer. If I am remembering correctly, DD and I caught the first bus from YC to MK. We arrived much later than other resort buses. Getting into the park was crazy. Instead of Fantasy Land, we changed plans and headed to Tomorrow Land. There were much fewer folks at the "rope."

ETA: I just realized that we didn't have the Early Morning Thingy on that trip. We went in the fall after the Early Morning started. But that trip we stayed at Pop.

We were on the second floor, but we’ve had that same layout on the first floor too. Good to know that the layout is the same on higher floors too.

We had one of those odd ones at BC too. I’m not sure how I feel about them. They have some features I really like, but I just find that the smaller bathroom annoys me.

Got back from a Villas stay (room 558) on the 2nd. It was a very nice resort, though we didn't take anywhere near the advantage of it that we thought we would. Hopefully, I'll run into the same luck that got me that room (for 6 nights!) again.

The room was very nice, though the air conditioner broke twice, so I got to meet 5 maintenance people in total. Likely would have been more, but the second time it broke was checkout day, so I didn't get to see the actual electrician that day.

For villa stayers, I truly cannot recommend that room. On one side is the telephone/electrical room and on the other side the elevator. My cousin nearly lost it the first night out on the pullout sofa from the elevator noise!

Eventually, a family asked us (while visibly salivating) where we got it

:scared:
:rotfl2:

Fold and organize loose clothing and other special touches.

I'm so glad I stay at villas rather than in the hotels where they get all up in your business LOL. I always forget that people like that sort of thing!

That doesn’t seem fair

People have moved on to better jobs over the last 2 years. Let the company ramp up to getting more employees wanting to get low pay for HARD work. I'm sure it'll get back to normal eventually, but all of the lower-pay employers are having issues.

I don't know what is with the elevator noise in the BCV building. A few years ago, I was in a studio near the elevator. I walked in, sat down, and 10 minutes later was down at the front desk begging to be moved.

OP said they were in room 558. I just checked my notes, and I was in room 325.
