Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Wondering who has stayed in YC over holiday season. We're deciding between WL or YC for December 2023. Everyone says WL is the best for the holidays, and I do love the resort, but a voice inside of me is still saying YAAAAACHT CLUUUB lol. Any thoughts? I've also heard that WL is less likely to do discounts than YC/BC, and getting a better deal will be important.

Beach Club will have that amazing gingerbread carousel and Yacht Club will have that super cute train display. I really really REALLY like the relaxed vibe that Yacht Club provides. It doesn't have the grandest lobby or the most outrageous decor, but it feels so intimate and calm. That is very much needed after a long day fighting through the Christmas crowds. Bonus: walking back from two parks and not having to fight to get on a bus is clutch.

Being from Minnesota, if I wanted a WL vibe for Xmas, I would just stay home or go to the cabin. So maybe for me I just like that Y&BC give me something I can't get at home. It's also my absolute favorite resort, though, so maybe I'm a tad bit biased. 😏

Did you book a 2-bedroom or a 2-bedroom lock-off?

OP might already know this, but for others who don't:
a 2-bedroom lock-off is a 1-bedroom connected to a studio.
Other 2-bedrooms are stand-alone units, they are not a 1-bedroom connected to a studio. Owners call this a "dedicated" 2-bedroom, but historically DVC and Disney have not used the term "dedicated."

If you booked a 2-bedroom lock-off, and you look at the map, you could be in what is shown as a studio lock-off which is next to a 1-bedroom lock-off. So for example, lock-off studio 469 is next to lock-off 1-bedroom 471, so someone who booked a lock-off 2-bedroom could be in those rooms. NOT SAYING that those would be the views you would want, just giving an example of how it works.

If you booked a lock-off, you don't necessarily need suggestions from someone who booked a 2-bedroom because you really would be asking about the view from a studio and the view from a 1-bedroom; someone who stayed in those rooms as a studio or as a 1-bedroom could answer your question about views.

Here's the room map, in case you haven't seen it:

We have a dedicated 2 bedroom. I have seen the views on touringplans website and it looks like there are several that had views, but I am afraid those photos are old.

I haven't stayed over the holidays but I think I've read that traffic is a nightmare on New Year's Eve. I would want to be at the Yacht Club where I could walk back from 2 parks rather than being stuck on an unmoving bus.

In general, I would always choose any Epcot Resort Area hotel over Wilderness Lodge. I was not a happy camper at Wilderness Lodge. Once you're there, you're pretty much stuck there. If you want a snack and don't like what's in the hotel's quick service restaurant, it's a pain in the neck to get anywhere else by Disney transportation. At the YC, you could walk over to BC, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin.

Perfect, we have stayed at the BC/YC the last three times at Disney during the Christmas holidays. With quick access to Epcot and HS plus all of the restaurants at Boardwalk, BC and YC it’s very manageable to get food, and feel the Holiday spirt plus your 5-10 minutes away with a hopper pass to grab festival food booths in Epcot. Great area and wonderful time of year.

Anyone have photos of and/or know the number of rooms with the 1 queen, 1 sleeper sofa, and 1 twin sleeper chair? I've searched the thread and the internet, but haven't actually found any photos of that configuration.

Thanks!

We have stayed at the WL when it is decorated for Christmas and it was beautiful. But it looked just like all the Christmas decorations where we live. And the lobby was always extra busy with people visiting for holiday pictures.

BC and YC lobbies are gorgeous and have displays that we don't see anywhere else. You can visit WL to look at the lobby but stay at the YC for the discount and easy access to two parks. :)

We're having trouble getting a reservation for Beaches & Cream for our group size and trying to figure out our options. Have they ever re-opened the B&C take out window? Also, Isn't there a new ice cream place (replacing Ample Hills) at Boardwalk?

People sometimes go to The Fountain at the Dolphin. Similar food. Download the Swan/Dolphin app for info.

Boardwalk Ice Cream opened but I think it has a smaller menu than Beaches & Cream.

Beaches and Cream is a small restaurant and reservations fill up fast. They have reopened the take out window but it has a limited menu.

Is there a specific post where I can read and ask questions about the coke freestyle machine in Yacht club? Do they work with the Disney refillable mugs? Which options/beverages is available (are all the one advertised on the Coke freestyle website available?). Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know why all three Epcot resorts have zero availability March 4-10? It’s weird because everywhere else is available including poly and Caribbean beach which normally are the first to go

So I can buy a band on Amazon or Ebay and link it to my hotel and tickets using my reservation numbers?
As long as the band is new and has never been linked. You don't need your reservation numbers. Just go to my disney experience and find the page for your bands. There will be a spot to link a new one. The code you enter is inside the band, on the back of the puck.

File under speculation but someone on the CL thread said they were recently told BWI CL would be closed March-May for refurbishment, so it's possible parts/pieces of BWI start going offline during that time if in fact that suggests a timeline for BWI renovations. Could also be a big conference holding room inventory, or the start of spring break creeping in... or a combo of all of the above.
