I don't have any kids, but my sister has 15 month old twins. They were planning to use Kirkland (Costco) diapers with the girls, but they are made by Huggies and when they tried Huggies, the girls got huge welts on their bottoms. So, they have had to stick to Pampers.

I did Pampers for the first 3 months or so, then switched to Huggies. Pampers seemed to fit best when they were tiny, but once the massive, gross, blowout stuff started happening, Huggies were better for containment.

Regarding rashes, both had sensitive bums, so brand didn't really matter, I was still buying Butt Paste by the gallon.

I bought second-quality diapers from a local mom. They were less than half the price of store-brand diapers. A variety of brands. The print was off-center, or the sticky tab was missing (I'd save those for bedtime and use a bit of duct tape to close them /put them under a sleeper).

It’s been awhile, our son will be 40 this year, but we mostly used Huggies. I distinctly remember them being better than Pampers.

Huggies because that is what they sold at Sam's, then we would use the Sam's brand for daycare and Huggies at home.

we tried to do cloth with our first but she ended being a houdini and could skimmy out of any cloth diaper (had many a family member and well meaning friend swear we were just not putting them on right-let them do it and 5 minutes later the kid was commando in the crib). ended up with whatever brand sams club was selling at the time.
