Military Salute Tickets 2023

That’s great news! It looks like tickets go on sale Nov 16, does anyone know if most bases will have the tickets available that day? We’re planning a late Jan trip with my parents (dad is retired Air Force) and I am anxiously waiting to make my park reservations! My dad is planning on heading to the nearest base on that day to purchase. I know Shades of Green will have them…but their ordering system is not great and will most likely take a few weeks To process.

Patrick afb ITT is SUPER FAST. Fill out their form, email it, they call you (usually same day) to take payment, you get Disney email with ticket numbers minutes later, and plastic tix 2 days later from FedEx. It is all on their website. We have bought from them 3 times.

Should have added they respond to emails quickly, so they could probably tell you if they will have them on that day.

I'm a little surprised by the additional blackout dates (beyond the contract expiration prior to Christmas). Is this new?

The Thanksgiving week dates are new. I seem to recall the spring always had blackout dates.

I think the bases have to order the tickets and have them shipped. So they wouldn’t be available immediately. At least that’s how it’s always worked for us, at several bases. Sometimes they have a few in stock but it may not be the number of days or type you want. You might want to ask your local ITT office. I don’t know if they can order them before January.

No, they have occasionally blacked out spring break, Easter, and Thanksgiving before. It’s not consistent. Same with how long the tickets are good for.

I’m a little disappointed in the Thanksgiving blackout next year. We have family in FL and had considered getting longer Salute tickets in February for a visit before and after our cruise and then using the remaining days next Thanksgiving week when we visit family in FL. Looks like I’ll have to scrap that plan!

Oh my gosh. I know this thread is about WDW military salute tickets but did you see the Universal Orlando tickets for 2023 are valid Nov 22 - Dec 23 and are basically annual passes? It looks like DoD civilians are also eligible to purchase them. They’re much less expensive. Since we’re going down over Thanksgiving this year anyway to see family I think next February we might do Universal for the first time instead of Disney, and get the tickets now so we can also go over Thanksgiving.

You really can't beat the price! We did something similar this year. We did wdw on one of the trips but added a few days at UO on there. Did a separate trip with my teen to just UO

I know there were no WDW spring blockouts in 2022 (because that's when we went), but I also ooked back at 2021 and 2020 (granted, weird years due to pandemic), 2019, and 2018- they all had the mid-December end dates, but there were otherwise no blockout dates during the year. I had to go back to 2017 and 2016 to find spring blockout dates (but there were no others). Disneyland seems to have had spring blockout dates most (if not all) years.

Prior to 2016, the offer was on a weird non-calendar year basis and I couldn't easily determine what, if any, blockout dates existed (though, it didn't look like there were any). But, regardless, it seems blockout dates for WDW haven't been a thing since 2017, and it seems they have added them back and then some. I'm a little disappointed, especially by the Thanksgiving ones.

Definitely can't beat the price. Though, is this a typo on the offer page:

2023 Military Freedom Pass Promotional Ticket

  • Available for use through 12/24/2023. Blockout dates apply.
    Dec. 26, 2022, through and including Jan. 1, 2023.
    Apr. 3, 2022, through and including Apr. 9, 2023.
  • Choose From 2-Park or 3-Park options.
  • Eligible Service Members can purchase and activate up to six (6) promotional tickets.
  • Must present valid U.S. military photo ID at any Universal Orlando theme park front gate ticket window in order to activate tickets
Surely they mean blockout dates of Apr. 3, 2023 through and including Apr. 9, 2023, right? Otherwise, that seems like not a great deal.

"Blockout dates apply Dec 26 through and including Jan 1, 2023; April 3 through and including April 9, 2023."

It says April 3, 2022 through and including April 9, 2023. That's a year and 6 days of blockout dates. Which means this pass could only be used from April 10, 2023 forward. Which is why I questioned whether it was a typo.

That's obviously a typo.

I agree. Which is why I pointed it out in the post you quoted and bolded "Blockout Dates", not sure why.

I honestly didn't even notice the date typo and thought you misunderstood the validity dates of the pass only being good April 3 through 9th.
