Castaway Cay docking stats

Just wondering how often the ships are unable to dock at Castaway Cay due to weather? Is it super low say 5% of the time or is there a higher chance say 30%. Just wondering if someone compiled stats on how often this happens.

We've never missed a day at CC, however the day has changed due to weather. (day 3 instead of day 2 as an example) So we're 10 for 10.

In 10 cruises: one CC stop cancelled due to high winds and tidal currents after multiple docking attempts; one delayed a day due to weather; one it started raining around noon, so most visitors returned to the ship early.

I don't know of anywhere that has the actual stats. My guess, based on 18 cruises and casual reading of the boards over many years is that the number is substantially less than 5%.

Some old timers used to keep stats, but I think they no longer on the DIS.

There is a thread around from a few years ago. Likelihood of docking is pretty high but not so high that it's rare to miss the stop. Probably in the 15% range but that's just a guess. Seems like some months may be higher chance of missing that other months.

We've made it 7 times in 6 cruises. On our 2018 cruise when we arrived at PC we found out that we were skipping St Maarten due to a bad storm. So instead we got to go to CC twice. Everyone I talked to was very excited about getting a double dip. This was a 7night on the Wonder so we went there at the beginning and ending of the cruise. We've had great weather every time we've been there. 3 times in Jan and 4 times in March.

Never missed on 9 cruises. Sailed in Jan, Feb, May, Sept and Oct.
Have had one change of CC and Nassau day due to predicted hurricane forecast track.

I have been on 25 cruises. Maybe 5 at castaway. Missed a couple due to winds. One time we were backing in and almost got in when the captain pulled forward and got out. the captain always tries multiple times to back in, and he usually get in.

I’ve been on 10 cruises that stopped at CC and made all 10. Most of those have been in the winter months too, which seems to have the highest chance of missing.

I'm 25 for 26 attempts.

We have however had to change our sea day/CC day, twice that I can remember.

We're 4 for 5 (hoping to be 5 for 6 after Wednesday).

The 1 time we missed it was due to high winds (in January).

We also missed Coco Cay on our 1st Royal Caribbean cruise this past November also due to high winds

8 cruises that included Castaway Cay at a port; 1 of those cruises was not able to dock at Castaway Cay. The cruise that missed CC was in mid-January (this year) during a cold front.

25 visits out of 25 scheduled stops. :cloud9: We are lucky indeed.
Not all of our cruises had stops at CC but then we did several Double Dips. It's all good.

My daughter and granddaughters have 10 cruises, only 8 made it into castaway.

we have 30 cruises. 27 made it into castaway. (2 misses was with daughter above)

my oldest daughter. 1 cruise. Zero times into castaway. First cruise (Nov. 2010) couldn’t dock in castaway/winds. (This cruise was with all of the above)(Nov 2010 was a big celebration for my retirement….first cruise for kids and grandkids, a real bummer, and only a 3 night cruise too).

adult grandson (w GF). 1 cruise. Zero times into castaway. First cruise. Hurricane Dorian (sept 2019), castaway closed for inspection.

as you see my family all seem to have a first cruise curse. Out of all of us who’ve cruised, out of 13 of us, 11 all missed castaway cay on their very first cruise. This was actually two difference times.

my last cruise, November 6, 2022, we did not go to castaway cay. Hurricane Ian just went through and wasn’t allowed to dock until inspections. So couldn’t go.
