Decided to take the plunge. Offer accepted. How I made my decision

Tip: if hoping for a split stay, book your home resort as a split in the beginning, because you can’t modify just part of a reservation to a different resort. For example, if you want 4 nights at CCV and hope for 3 nights at BWV, book a 4 night reservation and a 3 night reservation at CCV. They will have separate booking windows.

At 7 months, if BWV is available, you simply modify that reservation online. If BWV isn’t available, you can waitlist and check the box to replace the relevant CCV reservation. If BWV never becomes available, just chat/email/call MS to merge the two CCV reservations (assuming exactly the same villa size and booking category) into one.
This is a GREAT piece of advice. As a soon to be new owner, thank you.

I think CCV is a solid choice, especially considering factors such as point charts and dues. The only 2 reasons I put in an offer on Bay Lake Tower instead were location, and the realization that the building material of CCV is actually older than BLT based on the age of Wilderness Lodge, so could require higher maintenance fees sooner. But right now the dues are very reasonable!
That makes sense on maintenance fees.

thank you so much! There are so many in and outs of booking, this is super helpful!

Just curious why you did not want OKW?
If we were going to choose a 2042 with strictly bus transportation to parks we would have went with SSR. I know some contracts can be 2057 but those were all much more $. Also, Disney had already made extension offers on OKW so we didnt forsee them offering it again and at the other 2042's maybe there's a chance of extension.

SSR lasts until 2054.

I will add this here for any that have already read the main post when I posted it. During all my reading I saw @AstroBlasters comment on #buywhereyouwanttostay "Every Grand Cal owner eventually reaches this conclusion"

Here I am 23 days later and Im about ready to go under contract for VGC. While originally the price per point scared me for VGC I realize that its gonna work out much better for us and the price per over the life of the contract is only $1350 a year, which will certainly be in the positive on vs cash pay. Our original 100 pts we bought we will use to go to WDW once a year or maybe even every other with a bank/ borrow scenario. I actually did some major math and digging to justify a direct purchase of VDH, including credit card incentives, ability to make payments and keep the money in bank account longer via credit card offers. While that got my numbers down significantly I honestly just do not like VDH and then paying the TOT is just insult to injury at that point. In the end I am still saving money going resale even though I bought the most expensive resort on the resale market. The only difference is I don't get direct benefits. For me the only sacrifice here would be Riviera stay options.

My best advice is read the threads here.. many of them. Take the time, it is SO worth it. I have learned so much. So much that I knew more about DVC than the guide I spoke to yesterday. I hung up with her called my husband and said the forums do a way better job at selling DVC than the people Disney pays! I can see why in the past when I have talked to a guide I was never sold, always walked away saying that is crazy money.. no way. Now here I am thinking I think I still want/need a tiny BWV contract.

Welcome home, neighbor!

Congrats and welcome home.

We stayed at WL (BRV) over Christmas in a 1BR and waking up on Christmas morning at WL and going swimming is a core memory for our family. It’s hard to beat WL during the holidays.
