1 day to tour Legoland - enough?

We are trying to cram in Legoland to our annual DL trip this spring. No firm dates yet, but we are thinking late May, which may or may not land us in Legoland around Memorial Day Weekend. We will be renting a car and driving out from Anaheim for the day. So, a couple of questions:

1) I imagine it would be insanely busy around Memorial day? Should we try to go on the Friday as opposed to Saturday - would that mean lower crowds, or not really? (Monday is the actual holiday...)

2) How long should we budget to see what we need to see? I'm not one of those commando tour people - with 3 little kids, we sort of just do what works. What should we absolutely NOT miss? And what will work for most of our age groups? Our kids will be 6, 4 and 2 at the time of the trip.

3) Height restrictions on rides - lots of them state "if under 42", must be accompanied by a friend 42" or taller". Does that mean that we could escort all 3 kids on the ride, or one >42" person per child? And if that ride has a 36" height requirement, our 2 yr old wouldn't be allowed to ride at all, even with a parent, right?

Anything else I might need to know about Legoland? Any info is appreciated. My two sons are absolute lego maniacs, so just being there will be amazing for them. One of their favorite things about Disneyland is the Lego store in Downtown Disney!;)

Your kids will love Legoland!

1. I would consider Friday vs. Saturday because the CA schools will still be in session during this time.

2. One day is plenty for your family. I would say some of the best attractions are: The kiddie driving cars, the Splash Battle, and everything in the Land of Adventure (the have a Buzz Lightyear-style ride that I think is better than Buzz), plus other small rides. Bring your swimsuits if it's warm because they have a big waterplay area in the pirate zone. Avoid the "factory tour" -- very boring and not really a factory.

3. Height requirements are VERY strictly enforced. You do have to have one greater-than-42 inch person per kid. So your 6-year-old would need to be tall enough to ride alone. Legoland has a lot of rides that a smaller child can ride with a parent, but a fairly tall requirement to ride things alone. I saw one family with three small kids have to send the dad on a ride with each kid in turn because none of them were big enough to ride alone.

4. My Lego-loving 12-year-old son said he didn't see many Lego sets that he couldn't find at home, but the other Lego-style souvenirs were pretty imaginative.

My kids loved lego land! I would definitely go on Friday over Saturday because lots of the rides are slow loaders and the lines get long. We worked our way around the park going from the right side as you walk in and finished with miniland. That worked out perfectly for us but if you are skipping the coaster type rides starting in all the interactive stuff in the middle of the park would probably be best like the car driving, helicopters, boat driving, etc that all get long lines later in the day. To get there you just would head left but skip around to the middle if you want to beat the crowds and work backwards. Also a must try snack is the Granny's Apple Fries in the Knight's area of the park.
