11 months or 7 months

We are looking to book for end of February 2017 by booking points through a rental company that we had a positive experience with this past year. Last year we waited until the 7 month mark for the lower rate and was able to book BCV. However with the renovations I'm worried if we wait until 7 months we might not have luck. Should we play it safe and book now or try to wait it out?

If you only want one particular resort and you are for sure going to make the trip, then you should book at the 11 month window. You have a good chance if you wait until the 7 month window for a February visit, but you have to decide how important that one resort is to you. However, don't rule out other DVC resorts. All of them are wonderful and have different advantages to them.

Next year, the Presidents' Day holiday is later than usual, February 20, which means the Princess half marathon weekend, which is always the weekend after that holiday, will be February 24-26. During DVC's low to moderate demand season which runs from mid-Jan to late Sep, it is the Princess half marathon weekend that is actually the highest demand period during that entire 8 1/2 months. In other words, if you want any near park resort for that time, you should seriously consider booking with the 11 month window.

If instead you mean that your arrival date is the Monday or Tuesday after that weekend, Feb 27 or 28, then you can likely wait until the 7 month window as the time in Feb immediately after the race weekend until about March 15 is one of the lowest DVC demand times of the year. Although if you want certainty, book earlier.
