We're back! We got back late last night. John's back to work and Deanna's off to school.
We started our trip out at WDW staying at SSR. Our friends were doing WDW that weekend so we spent Friday with them at MGM. This is the first time in years that we spent a whole day at the parks. It was fun going through the park with someone who hadn't been there before.
Saturday we went over to the Port area and stayed at the CI&S. We met up with Cindy & Gary. They upgraded us to the kids bunk house rooms which was nice. We went to Grills for dinner and the kids loved watching the guys clean the fish. I kept my distance - the little bit of fish I do eat comes breaded and Mrs. Paul's makes it
Sunday morning we were at the Port about 10:15 AM. We had to wait a little bit to board - I think we got on the ship about 11:30. The divider wall between Cindy's balcony and ours was open so we left it open and enjoyed having a double balcony. It was nice meeting with them in the morning standing on the balcony waiting for breakfast room service.
The rest of the cruise was fabulous! We really enjoy cruising with friends. Lots of drinks and lots of good food.
We stayed at AKV for 2 nights after the cruise. I have loved our stays at AKL the previous 2 times we were there so I know I really do like the resort, but I don't see us staying at the DVC units again until the new building is built. We had a Savannah 1 bdrm. Our room was one of the last rooms at the end of the hallway. We didn't get our room assingnment until 5:30 PM. The girl was telling John that DVC rooms aren't guaranteed until 5 PM. It made me a bit more unhappy when housekeeping showed up at 9:15 wanting to know if we had left. I love the decor/theming of the rooms but as Cindy explained the bathrooms are not very well laid out for a family. The tubs are high and the sides are wide, there isn't the big glassed in shower like they show in the models. The shower is in the soaker tub which is slippery and so is the floor when getting out of the tub. They only have the one bath and the whole unit seems to be narrower than what the models are. The kitchen has a small wooden island that is movable but it doesn't have the counter with the barstools like the model shows. There's this huge hallway that divides the bath from the bedroom. I do like that the balconys are one complete balcony from the living room to the bedroom. Oh, our bathroom came with 13 bath towels, 2 wash cloths, 1 hand towel, no bath mat, no shampoo, no soaps and no privacy tag to put on the door (so housekeeping doesn't bother you on check out day). The kitchen was pretty well stocked and the dishes there have a pretty neat design on them.
All in all it was a great trip and my mind is already trying to come up with another trip.............soon!
