8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC

lastscan-2.jpg

Welcome! This is the latest incarnation for the Captain Jack's Repossession Repositioning Cruise to Port Canaveral thru The Panama Canal. This thread is largely impossible to keep up with, even for the most active poster. However, its a lot of fun with a great group of people, so jump in and say hi, even if you can't sit here reading 24/7.

In order to keep all of the relevant information in some sort of order, we have a Website that has a lot of good information on ports, packing, etc. There is a really good "virtual cruise" that takes you day by day through the cruise, a must see and guaranteed to get you even more excited for the cruise. While you are there, sign up for our mailing list using the webmaster link on the main page.

Most important information posted on this thread is cut/paste by the good people here and placed on our planning boards. This is also the place to go to sign up for any of the events you are interested, ask questions where you don't have to search through 1,000 posts to find the answer, etc.

So fasten your seat belt, keep your hands and head inside the car at all times and have fun.....

Navigator Update:

If you are a task force leader, except for Peter, you should have received a PM from me this morning. Please respond ASAP to confirm the information (many of you have already - thanks!). Peter, I'll send your's tonight, the rugby info is on my other computer.

If you are planning an event and didn't receive a PM from me, and you name is not Peter, that means the event is not currently listed in the Pirate Navigator draft. Please send me the information ASAP!!!

Here is a list of activities I have so far. Please note that I did not inlcude things that will be in the regular DCL Navigator such as Mickey Mouse Club Night, Catholic Mass, etc. To keep this post from being 8 pages long, I'm only listing the day, time and title here - more details will be in the navigator. There is a kids thread

Thank goodness we're off #13!! Not a lucky thread for many of us.....

My kids were asking me tonight which movies were on the Magic while we're on there. I could recall Wall-E, Ratatouille, POTCDMC, College Road Trip, Prince Caspian and I think Bev Hills Chihuahua....which ones did I miss?

Thanks!

WHY IS THE RUM ALWAYS GONE??

Bad news - DCL wasn't able to schedule any rum tastings...seems someone misplaced the rum? Where's that darn Captain Swann??

See a few posts on down though for the tasting schedule.

I hate when the thread closes when I'm in the middle of doing a multi-quote!
me too.. I need more warning. LOL
Lost the multi quote... but manually copy/pasting this:

Can you rent a wheel chair and shove..umm I mean push her around in that ??
Well she's almost as tall as me (about 3/4 an inch shorter than me) and weighs MORE than I did after I had 3 kids cause she's gained some weight the last 6mo or so.... (but still weighs less than I am now, which is all fat NOT muscle) so I'd be one tired puppy pushing her big hiney around!
I'm gonna have to VETO that idea right from the start. LOL But thanks for the idea.... I appreciate you are trying to be so helpful!

Maybe DH can do that on the last day we go to DL (but the only day he's there- that Saturday). it would be a breeze for him but it would just about KILL me (probably hurt my bad back. and I don't want my back hurting for weeks! ack!)

With the overwhelming popularity of our various drink tastings, DCL had to schedule 2 sessions for beer, martini and tequila. I've scheduled everyone as best I can making sure that no one has 2 tastings scheduled on the same day. I also took into account any Palo reservations, but that's only if you posted your Palo plans on the Who's Doing What thread.

At the tasting you will be asked for your room key. The charges (approx. $12-15 per person) will be charged to your room.

All of the tastings are full, so please don't ask to be switched around. If something doesn't work for your schedule, DCL will be offering public tastings. You are welcome to sign up for any of those.

Why is the rum always gone? You'll notice that there are not any rum tastings scheduled. DCL informed us that they were not able to offer a rum tasting. Not sure if there will be a public tasting onboard or not.

Will #14 be the final thread before we sail away? It seems that we chat

more as it's getting closer - shared anxiety and excitement!!!

Okay subscribed --- Ciao!

Cheryl: Yes, I'm serious about the ironing... DH wants to spend the money on DOTDs instead! We'll have to bring the wrinkle releaser stuff that we have too. Maybe we can do that and not worry about it!

Lisa: You said that irons aren't allowed in the rooms? So we can't even bring our own? Do they actually say that anywhere like "Don't bother to pack your iron" or anything? Do they allow curling irons? Isn't that the same fire hazard?

I disappear for a few minutes and the thread is closed :scratchin I think this calls for ...........

:cake: and :jumping1:

This came up on the last thread. Our disposable cameras and film is 800 speed. Here is what I found on the TSA website:

Never place undeveloped film in your checked baggage, our security equipment used for screening checked baggage will damage your undeveloped film. Place your film in your carry-on baggage or request a hand inspection. Please note that our carry-on security equipment might also damage certain film if the film passes through more than five times.

If your film cannot be cleared by X-ray inspection, or you desire to have it inspected by hand, you may be required to open the box, canister, or wrapper so our Security Officer can inspect it. We recommend leaving your film in the unopened manufacturer’s packaging.

Our security equipment used for screening checked baggage will damage your undeveloped film. Carry undeveloped film with you to the security checkpoint.
None of the security equipment - neither the machines used for checked baggage nor those used for carry-on baggage - will affect digital camera images or film that has already been processed - slides, videos, photo compact discs or picture memory cards.

General Use Film

You should remove all film from your checked baggage and place it in your carry-on baggage. The X-ray machine that screens your carry-on baggage at the passenger security checkpoint will not affect undeveloped film under ASA/ISO 800.

If the same roll of film is exposed to X-ray inspections more than 5 times before it is developed, it is possible that damage may occur. Protect your film by requesting a hand-inspection for your film if it has already passed through the carry-on baggage X-ray screening equipment more than five times.

Specialty Film

At the passenger security checkpoint, you should remove the following types of film from your carry-on baggage and ask for a hand inspection:

Film with an ASA/ISO 800 or higher
Highly sensitive X-ray, medical or scientific films
Film of any speed which is subjected to X-ray surveillance more than 5 times (the effect of X-ray screening is cumulative)
Film that is or will be underexposed
Film that you intend to 'push process'
Sheet, large format and motion picture film
Tips and Precautions:

To expedite the security process of a hand inspection, you should consider carrying your film in clear canisters, or taking the film out of solid colored canisters and putting it into clear plastic bags.

Consider having your exposed film processed locally before passing through airport security on your return trip.

We recommend that you do not place your film in lead-lined bags since the lead bag will have to be hand-inspected.

You may still consider bringing a lead-lined bag if you are traveling through airports in other countries as their policies may vary. Check with your airline or travel agent for more information on foreign airports.

OK so I walked the furr kids and on the way back, Isis the diva, goes to smell something in the grass. Just about freaks - literally jumps 3 ft in the air - and turns in mid-air and runs back - her tail goes completely between her back legs and she starts shaking. It was the freakiest thing. I'm not sure what she smelled but it definitely freaked her out. She about yanked my shoulder out of the socket. It scared me because she was shaking and breathing hard like she just ran a marathon.

Not sure what she smelled as I could not get her to go back. In fact, I had to cross the street and she was about crying to have Chloe come over. Steve took Chloe over to see if she smelled anything and that dog lived up to her reputation - all looks and no brain. She was normal. Remember, Isis was the dog throwing herself at the ground the whole day before the earthquake. I call her my sensitive one. It took about 3 blocks before she was able to walk "normally" and her tail to come out from between her legs. This is what freaked me out the most. This dog's tail is ALWAYS out on walks. But this freaked me. Anyone have any ideas. She's normal now - laying down - she walked for 55 minutes. But I am definitely going to have to watch her tonight to see if she has nightmares. Her poor chest was heaving like someone had beat her and her eyes got that wild look to them - whatever she smelled scared the living daylights out of her.

It would be funny if I hadn't had my left shoulder almost yanked out of me. Of course, had that happened, I would have laughed my behind off.:rotfl2:
