A Disney Ship coming to Australia ?

I’m so torn, I feel like it’s finally coming to Australia and now I’m not really interested in going on it
The itineraries just don’t do it for me
I’m so not sure yet
I think we are sticking with the transatlantic on the Dream.

Irony that the biggest Australian affinity group have turned their nose up at these. Granted, they're not pitched to us (unfortunately).

They will fill but with a completely different demographic.

Yep. The Disney on Ice crowd. But I guess that's the point of this venture.

I agree the short itineraries aren't going to do much for the experienced cruisers. Dating before marriage, it seems, for Disney. The cruises will still sell like no tomorrow just for the convenience of having Disney at your door step.

Sooo... we have decided to go through with our plans of coming down under this December! Yay!

We will tour hard this time, see all we really want to see, and keep the slower pace for once Wonder is sailing longer itineraries.

Still might do the Sydney to Honolulu leg in 2024. :boat:

Except Disney on Ice is around AU$50-$100 and these cruises are substantially more than that.
I have no doubt they will sell and sell well, it's just a shame there are so many to "nowhere" and for 2 nights.

I think they will return in 2024 and hopefully then offer longer sailings.
Australians love to cruise, this is a fact already, I'm still not sure what they are trying to prove with these short sailings, people in Australia are spending money in droves traveling so we will happily spend more for a longer cruise.

It's not stopping in Tahiti. It's only stopping in American Samoa, Fiji, and New Caledonia. The other days at all at sea. The return cruise has an additional day in Maui, though.
Ah cool. I didn’t know they had announced specifics. Either way sign me up!

Our media keep calling these cruises a “floating kids club”. It’s going to be interesting how our cruise loving citizens enjoy a 2 day cruise on Disney compared to the “floating nightclubs” they are used to on shorter cruises.

I was talking with someone earlier, they couldn't understand the cost. Once I explained there is no casino they finally understood.
I think the Aussie sailings will be swarming with kids - I mean I have my own, but I don't see too many adult only trips on these itineraries.

Honestly if us disboards Disney fans who have been waiting for years, don't seem too keen to spend the cash for this. I can't see many regular aussies wanting to spend that much for a round of the port two night experience which they won't really understand the benefit of compared to other cruiselines
Yeah, the U.K. sailings were successful because there weren’t many other options and people couldn’t travel abroad. I’ll be interested to see how these fare in a very different climate.

I’m thinking I’ll wait and see if any have discounts closer to sailing.
The cost of these alone will turn off a lot
I was talking to a woman with 4 kids who is adamant on going
I told her with 6 people you’re going to need two cabins, I think that reality sunk in after that.

I have kids in grade school so this is not an option for me
Do they not allow you to pull kids out where you are?
We are allowed for vacation in Australia (well most schools allow it)
A good portion of these cruises are during our summer holidays so no school here for most kids.

We pull our kids out for our vacations, I could never afford to travel during school breaks.

I am beyond excited about this, we live in Brisbane, and had to cancel a DCL cruise from Barcelona in 2020.

DCL is arriving in our school holidays!! The summer break here is mid-December to end of January. Though would have been nice to go when the kids were those 3 years younger, mine are teens now but I’m making them come.

They will sellout fast I expect, I do wish they were longer and I’m confused about the cruise length as they all seem to be 2 days but they also mention more nights.

They go on sale 29 September, any idea of what time that could be?
Unless they are having nights where the ship simply doesnt run it only looks like one of the brisbane ones is 2 nights. There may even be one up to 5 nights.

Here is an updated Itinerary. Too many to "nowhere" for my liking

So will the Magic do the Mexican Rivera sailings while the Wonder is in Australia?

I would think not. The Wonder will be out of So Cal during winter (northern hemisphere). Maybe DCL is exploring whether moving her during that time to a summer location is more profitable than keeping her on the west coast of the US.

Okay so they would just skip the MR all together? And have the Magic stay out in the Caribbean?
