They do need customs forms - make sure you mark as "gift" and don't put a huge value on or we get charged for HM Customs clearance We know they are priceless but for customs purposes $20-$25 is fine
Any packaging you'd use to send internally is fine for airmail, just make sure you seal it tightly with strong tape and that everything is sealed in the ziplock baggies - if you're running tight for space/weight I'm fine with everything bundled into one bag. There is a max weight for airmail but I doubt this swap will exceed it. If their are $ left over please just tuck them into the bags - don't mention it on the forms. Any coins please donate to your favourite charity!
Hostesses who send to UK regularly will be able to give more specific local advice. I know its a bit if you've not done it before
ETA - there is a track option but I think it costs twice as much so we generally don't bother
