Does anyone know when DVC announced when the WLV were available for purchase? I know it was the end of Nov. if you were there in person you were able to purchase. (that's when we took the tour)But I wanted to know do they announce a couple of months befor they are available for on-site purchase? We definitely want to buy at BCV and we want to do it in person and are planning to go to WDW for vacation in 2002 so we wanted to not have to make 2 trips down. Any info or thoughts on this? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

We discussed this with our guide, and have asked her to call us the minute they are available. She said it may be sooner than expected if VWL sell out ahead of schedule. I would contact DVC and let them know you want to be advised asap when they are available. I'm sure a guide is not going to turn down the opportunity for a potential sale!

Originally, VWL was to begin sales on Jan 14. When OKW and BWV sold out earlier than expected, leaving DVC with no on-site resorts to sell, they scrambled to sell VWL early- even though closings were still to begin after Jan 14. The reason the sales were on-site only was that DVC had no yet completed the necessary requirements to register that resort in other states (again- expecting Jan 14). Some states still may not be registered for sales at VWL.
Since they have more lead time for BCV, I expect that if VWL would sell out before BCV is completed, DVC will be better prepared to accelerate registration or at least some sort of pre-sale. They will likely announce that fact as soon as possible, but still not for at least months from now. Stay Tuned!! :)

I was told by a DVC Sales Manager that VWL points were originally planned to go on sale in Mid Jan. when the point increase went in effect. When BWV officially sold out in the beginning of Nov. 2000 DVC did not have any "on property" product to sell so they began the presale of VWL to keep the sales office busy.

I do not believe BCV will go on sale before it is completed UNLESS VWL sells out before this time. From what I have read on this board there is good probability that VWL will sell out 6 to 8 months before BCV is ready for occupancy. The question is how far in advance will DVC presell? Also I wonder how soon before they start on the next DVC Resort?

Just some thought.

doesn't the building have to be some percentage complete before florida will allow timeshares to be sold? when they did VB and OKW you could buy before the construction was completed - but florida changed its laws.

I may be wrong, but the most recent example I can think of is the Marriott Horizons development (near Seaworld). I'm pretty sure they were selling that long before any units were ready for occupancy.

Unless people are concerned the BCV will sell out in a few days, there is no real reason to rush the purchase at all. Even if the resort begins sales before completion, the DVC contracts are unlikely (a la VWL) to close before a specified date and the points which will be pre-sold still won't be available for use until the BCV is accepted into DVC (after completion).

Thanks for all the responses! I just hope I will find out in enough time to be able to book my vacation to coinside with a BCV purchase. I live in N.Y. and we're one of those states that they can not sell to. I will be checking back on this board in the future for any new updates. Please post if any new news becomes available, and thanks for all the quick responses! This board is great and so are all of you!! :D :D

Desnik- What Doc said is right re BCV purchase- even if they presell, you won't be able to use them for awhile- I believe VWL were rented out by cro for a month or two before being available for DVC usage. So you might have to wait even longer than their actual opening. It was for this very reason that we are buying a BW resale right now, and figure we will add on at BCV when its available. Something to think about anyway if you want to get started in DVC.I know they won't sell out in a day I'm just so excited about BC I want to be one of the first to buy (silly, huh)

We know we won't be able to use the points right away, but that doesn't concern us. We just want our 2002 trip(we go to WDW every other year)to be able to make the purchase and do all paper work (well most) while there. We wouldn't be using those pts. until the following year because once members, we'll be going every year!! :D :D When we were there in Nov. we did the tour and was told if we wanted to buy at WLV we could on Nov.27. But wouldn't close until Jan.15 and the pts. could be used after that. I'm assuming it may be a similar situation if WLV sell out quickly.

DVC is diligently working to complete registration in NY. They have been able to sell OKW and BWV there I believe- just haven't cut thru the Empire State Red Tape yet for VWL.

If you plan a trip in late Nov, 2002 (or early Dec)- I would think you'll be very safe to purchase at BCV while on site. Rest assured that as time gets closer, announcements will be made as to when sales will begin at BCV...and you can surely find those announcements right here! Enjoy!
