Aloha! As the trip report title says, this was our umpteenth stay, but it was one of my favourites for many reasons. I grew up going pretty much every year with my parents and sisters. We always stayed at Caribbean Beach and that resort – especially the Jamaica area - will always hold a special place in my heart.
As a mother now myself, recreating the Disney magic with my own family is even more special. My husband was a former “I’ll go once for the kids” kind of guy, but is now perhaps the biggest fan in our house. I have two daughters – Catherine and Maeve. Catherine is your typical princess-obsessed 6 year old, while Maeve, 4, idolizes Buzz Lightyear. We are from Atlantic Canada and always travel down during our spring break - the first week of March. I love this time of year because the weather is lovely, Flower and Garden has started, but hardly anyone else is on Spring Break so it's not completely nuts in the parks yet.
We always travel with extended family... Disney + grandparents = the best! Our crew also usually includes my sisters and their families. This year there were 13 of us in total, coming from all parts of country to meet up in our favourite place on Earth.
This trip was extra special as it was our first as DVC members. Our home resort is the Polynesian, and while we had visited there before, we had never actually stayed there. We were REALLY hoping we would like it! We stayed for 10 nights in a Polynesian studio. Before this trip we have stayed at many different resorts, our favourite being Beach Club Villas. We knew the Poly would have a really high bar to meet to match our beloved Beach Club and I was slightly worried we would spend the trip lamenting the loss of Cape May Cafe and Stormalong Bay.
With all the uncertainty in the world, I'm happy to write my first trip report and relive the fantastic memories we made on this trip.
Coming up... Day 0 - messy weather, a mediocre meal, and the excitement of Disney Eve!
