Annual pass

You don't purchase an AP at the resort; you have to go to Guest Services at the parks or DTD. So if that's a problem, get it now. You'll get a voucher to turn in at GS when you arrive. Either way, you have to go to GS.

If you buy an AP before your trip, you'll get vouchers which you'll exchange for actual passes on the day you first go to a park (or DTD). They become active the first time you enter a park and will be valid for a year.

Some people pre-pay in order to mete out the cost of a trip; it avoids getting hit with another major expense around vacation time.

Others purchase them early to avoid a rumored price increase.
