Booked today....(THANKS ALL!) and was quoted the $49.00 rate for ASMu in September but since there will be three adults in the room, they ended up charging me their additional $10 fee for the extra person per night. Has anyone else had this quoted to them?? (Just wondering...can't really complain about the rate...)

They always charge for extra people except in the Villas. They even charge for your children 18 and over. One year the desk clerk asked us how old our son was and did not believe us that he was only 16 since he was very tall for his age. I made him show her his driver's permit to prove it to this very rude clerk.

Yes. We were also charged for our 18yr old son.
Paying an extra $10.00 a night for him to stay
in the same room with us. But I guess that is cheaper than paying for an extra room. I haven't been able to get any discounts for the time we will there. July7-14. $122.00 a night for the All Stars. It is the cheapest so far for that time
frame. I keep crossing my fingers for a better
rate to come along.

WE were charged the extra for my mom...but whats worse is that at the deluxe hotels you are charged an extra $25 dollars per adult. We are halfing our stay between the ASSR and Yacht Club so we are going to pay $140 extra for my mom. Just grinning and bearing it..LOL

ok if you are allowed to have 4 people in the room why are you charged extra if the 3rd or 4th is an adult while if its kids you aren't charged?
I mean whats the difference? the kid takes up space and uses the towels just like an adult....I don't understand......

Probably the same reasoning the airlines use when they offer children/student prices on full fare tickets!

when do the air lines do that at 2 years old we had to pay full price for DD?? so how can she get a student fare??

I've always agreed with that too. 4 people per room no matter what age. I never believe my daughter used anything different at age 16 than at age 18. BTW, my grandson has paid full price for every airline ticket he has used too. (Delta and USAir)

I'm not sure why the extra charge for the extra adults (when did they start the $25 charge at the deluxe resorts, it was only $10 a few years ago). But then I've never understood why hotels will quote one price if one person is in the room and another price if two people use the same room. It is generally only a few dollars more, but I've never had them come take towels away when I was only one person, nor come add towels when we had 2 people. Seems like it is the same room.

This is a little off the original topic - but someone asked about discount air rates for kids - most airlines have them but they are usually only a slight discount off the last minute full price rate. we have always been able to fly cheaper by booking an adult fare in advance for the kids

I always assumed that hotels that charge a few more dollars for two people rather than one person has to do with utilities used. Of course, with Disney, this logic doesn't work because as was mentioned before, a 16 year old probably uses the same amount of water and electricity as an 18 year old so why the price difference?

There is no real reason for the charges being different for 1 or 2 people per room. Or for charging xtra $$ for adult verses child.

But if you read the information about rates for rooms they always say that the room will accomidate 4 but only 2 adults or there is an extra charge for additional adults, this is not only at Disney it is an industry standard.

It is simply a good way to increase revenue.
