Big Birthday Halloween at HNY
Hotel New York Sunday 12 October Thursday 16 October 2014
The Cast
Me - Julie (39) turning 40 soon!
DH - John (43)
DS1 Mark (20)
DD - Abbey (17)
DS2 - Lewis (10)
My long anticipated 40th birthday trip is almost in sight and after a very busy few weeks Im ready to start the planning phase
We were very lucky to be able to visit DLP twice last year, a summer trip followed by a last minute Christmas delight
Here are Abbey and Lewis from our December trip:
Ill turn 40 later in the month of October and have been planning for years that I wanted to celebrate at DLP. Knowing that our school holidays would not be the same time, Im happy to celebrate at DLP before my birthday Our eldest DS, Mark, hasnt been to DLP with us since summer 2011 so Im really happy that we'll all be there together this year
As usual I took a while to book up and finally took the plunge on the 2 days, 2 nights free deal. I had priced up our usual 3 nights at various hotels but it worked out more expensive by the time I added on an extra night somewhere to account for late flights etc, so as Hotel New York is the preferred hotel for us all, we decided to go for it and be at the same hotel for all 4 nights. So we have two rooms booked which keeps everyone happy with a bed each and two bathrooms. Hopefully we'll get connecting rooms if I email and call the hotel a few days beforehand.
Flights from Glasgow were so expensive as its our local school holiday week almost £1000!! I searched online and found flights from Liverpool for just over £350 so booked them and as the flight isn't until late afternoon we'll just drive down in the morning. John from Ezyshuttle is booked to magic us to the park and back again
I dont have enough shares to renew my membership just now and it runs out at the end of September. I'm still undecided as to whether I should buy more shares or not
We will arrive at DLP quite late on our first day and I think the park will be open until 9pm as it's a Sunday so if traffic ok from CDG we might just make Dreams. I'm ok about missing our first day as well make up for it on the last day, leaving around dinner time.
I don't have our days or meals fully planned as yet, but am working on the following:
Sunday arrive approx. 20:15 dash to park to catch Dreams, then meal possibly Café Mickey where weve not been for years
Monday EMH (of course) followed by Studios to check out Ratatoullie!! Might book in the tour of the Studios here too. Late lunch/dinner at Chef Remy Bistro. Evening in main park
Tuesday EMH (again) all day between parks. Walts for dinner?
Wednesday EMH (do you see a theme here?) Mark and Abbey would like a day trip to Paris (Im not fussed) not confirmed as yet, will need to investigate Dinner in Steakhouse?
Thursday EMH (well, it is the last day) full day between parks, early dinner at Annettes before being picked up at 17:30 from hotel for transfer to CDG
Things were looking forward to:
Ratatoullie - the main excitement is all about Ratatoullie!! This is a family favourite and weve all been following progress on this since the first announcement was made. I love the look of the entire area, not just the ride itself and am so happy its a fast pass ride and we want to try the restaurant too
Halloween 2010 was our last visit during Halloween and Im really looking forward to seeing the pumpkin heads everywhere
Tour of the Studios we did the main park last summer and really enjoyed this so will slot this in somewhere
Spiderman not guaranteed to be extended, I know, but Lewis will be crossing all his fingers and toes that hell be able to meet him
The Lego Store this was supposed to open a few days before our last trip, but didnt. Again, another one of Lewis loves
Dreams weve seen every version of Dreams so far and I still love this
BTM finally, after years of persuasion, encouragement and bribery Lewis finally liked BTM on our last visit! Now we can all ride together instead of us taking turns sitting on the bench and viewing the available hats, guns and bandanas to purchase ..
Me not needing to go on Space Mountain or RnR with Abbey because Mark will be there wooohoooo!!
Mark being there its just not the same without him. There have been so many changes since he was there last. He hasnt even seen the park without the stage at the hub, or seen Dreams!
Rides weve not done ever or for years Snow White and Pinocchio we havent done since Abbey was wee (she never liked them) and none of us have ever done Stitch!
The summer seems to have flown by and Im so looking forward to this trip! Im off to read everything I can about Halloween now!
