I should know this but I have never paid attention to our receipts....but how do they calculate the discount?
total, then discount, then tax on original total?

say the meal was the buffet for $17.99 pp

for 2 it would be 35.98-7.20=28.78+2.34(6.5%tax)=31.12 total?

Thanks for any help!!

I am almost postive that we have received an original receipt and then another receipt with the discount. Each item was discounted individually by 20% before tax. Which is the same as discounting the subtotal before tax, but anyway, that's what I remember.

So, you're math is correct!

yup - thats what happened with us
total, -20%, then add tax
tip on total amt - not discounted amt
