My Christmas snowglobe...

DSC03069.jpg

I didn't realise how many I've actually got :lmao:

More great pics everyone :thumbsup2

I mentioned the range, a few weeks ago to the lady in Castle China (a great Disney collectables shop if you are ever in Warwick) and they aren't licenced over here :(

Jo, I love that little shop, it's like an Aladdin's cave ::yes::

Rachel, Do you leave your Christmas snowglobe out all year? I'll confess, that other than the tree ornaments, I leave my Disney Christmas things on the shelf to dust year round.

Here's one of my most loved Disney fine art pieces. . . . it was in commemoration of Independence Day last year and it's hand-embellished by James Coleman :goodvibes:

Susan, I absolutely love your old map! Such a great piece.

Here's the pinnacle of my collection. I absolutely adore it.

Frances,
I love both of your pieces and would talk you out of them if I could. They are exquisite. May I ask if you got them from the Animation Gallery in Disneyland--either the one that used to be above the Pirates entrance where the Disney Dream Suite is now or the shop next to the Animation building in DCA? They seem like the sort of thing that's dealt there. Thanks for sharing your Disney pretties.

I noticed the link to trip reports in your list of past trip dates. I look forward to reading them.

Thanks, Susan. I actually purchased them both from a Disney-specialist gallery in England (www.magicofdisneyart.co.uk). They have some really beautiful pieces.

My trip reports are photo-less at the moment, since imagestation shut down. I'll hopefully get around to updating the photo links as soon as possible.

I'm a huge collector of Disney art and we are fortunate to have many pieces in our collection. I'll take some more photographs later. I absolutely adore your artwork, Susan. You have some very unique pieces and must have been so very proud of your husband's talent. His work is stunning.

Which one, Frances? The map on page 19 of the WDW that was planned but never quite materialized? Of the 1960s Disneyland map on page 31?
Oh wow, I hadn't seen the one on page 31. It's magnificent! It looks especially effective with those neat Main Street buildings in front - where they from? Both maps are fantastic.

I have to tell you that I have from the sublime to the humble hanging on my walls and stacked around my house. That old map was given to my husband by a friend who picked it up at a movie posters swap meet--as a freebie thrown in to intice him to buy something. That "free" park map cost several hundred dollars to frame!! The Main Street buildings also have humble origins. They were manufactured for Sears (yes, the old mail order and US department store company) under the series name Disney Magic. This was twenty or twenty-five years ago. It must not have been a very successful line because Scott found these at a Sear Clearance store that sold rock bottom remainder items. The price stickers on the boxes are all marked $4 to $8--and I'm not sure he even had to pay that much as I think they were bought during a further markdown sale. Each building has a small electric light but the only one I have set up with the light is the Castle as there was no way to hide the cords when displayed on the breakfront. I like them close to the old map, too.

I'll read your reports soon and check back from time to time looking for your restored photos. Can you switch to Photo Bucket?

Claire,
A couple of nosey questions that you're under no obligation to answer--Where did you get this? Was there a perfume in it when you got it?

No problems Susan - ask away. :thumbsup2 It did not have any perfume in it & to be honest I have never put any in it, I just have it on my dressing table to display it.

My husband & I have been trying to remember what shop I bought it in & we both think it was in the shop as you exit the Magic of Disney Animation but it was a few years ago & I was looking for them in December as I would like to get another one but unfortunately didn't see them anywhere & believe me I went in most of the shops. :rotfl:

Lovely artwork, Frances... :thumbsup2 I'm hoping to buy another piece when we're in WDW in a couple of weeks tho' I do love the Magic of Disney Art - especially the concept artwork... :cloud9:

Beautiful perfume bottle, Claire - wow!!!
Had to sort the house out today to make room for my DD and her partner whilst they have building work done on their home. During the mammoth tidy-up, I came across this special little item which my husband received when he was a pension fund manager and went on a fact-finding investment trip to DLP before it actually opened... :)

Very unique Karen....I wouldn't think many of them were made.

Nice coin, Karen! What a great piece of history. It's really neat to have things dating back from when parks first opened, especially in the case of DLRP with the old "Euro Disney" name. Sounds like it was a "hidden treasure" too, which is always a nice surprise!!

Here's two more from our collection for today.
