Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I truly am concerned though. I think we should stay home so that DLR can open safely as soon as possible, but this Sunday is the last time people on unemployment will receive the additional $600. Also no word on when or if another stimulus is coming. I’m worried that the pressure of an eviction crisis and people now not being able to afford to live anymore will push for a “fast re-reopening” here in CA. What do you guys think? Like what’s going to happen to the CM’s if DLR doesn’t open until next year? I don’t have confidence that Disney is going to pay them to stay home unfortunately.

I really wish that California would make people who travel out of state to CA quarantine for 14 days, and people who are from CA who go out of state and reutrn home quarantine for 14 days as well. I feel like that could keep people from traveling because no one is going to be able to quarantine for that long. (also that it would be enforced, and if not they would face a hefty fine and possible jail time.)
Why? The people in CA and I'm sure a lot of other places FOR THE MOST PART have been following the rules, essentially sheltering in place, NOT participating in rallies, wearing face masks in businesses, all of it. The spread right now is because people have either been ignorant and put themselves in danger by going to bars or meeting with friends in their homes. Why punish everyone else? You've seen the precautions WDW is taking. It is the safest place to be and the best example of what precautions need to be taken so we can ALL go back to life. You want to quarantine people and threaten to throw them in jail for visiting WDW? That's insane.

ETA: I am always vacillating between open and require masks and other safety precautions for everyone and stay closed until things get under control, but unfortunately it’s never that easy- people are going to do what they want

I'm not sure I understand this correctly, but a panel of the OC Board of Education wants to recommend opening with no masks or social distancing

Our district responded to this today. Basically, they said "we are not governed by the OC Board of Education and are not taking their recommendations into account. We plan to implement face coverings and social distancing measures, among several other components for a safe reopening of our district schools."

For anyone with a Premier AP, I just received this email:

Dear Valued Passholder,
As the Walt Disney World Theme Parks reopen, we look forward to welcoming back our cherished Annual Passholders with a continued focus on delivering a magical experience. As we evolve this new system, we will be looking for ways to fine-tune and for opportunities to increase reservation availability for you.

We are excited to share that starting Thursday, July 16, additional Disney Park Pass reservations will be offered to Annual Passholders for select dates in July and August at Magic Kingdom® Park, EPCOT® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Please note that this additional Disney Park Pass reservation availability does not reflect an increase in Park attendance, which remains limited during this reopening period. Check here for the latest availability.

Also, Annual Passholders staying at select Disney Resort or other select hotels with valid Theme Park admission are eligible to make Theme Park reservations for each day of their resort stay(s), in addition to holding up to 3 days of Theme Park reservations at a time on a rolling basis. Once you use a Theme Park reservation, you can make another reservation for a future date.
Updates on options to manage your Premier pass
We recognize that Park reservations will change the way that many of our Passholders use their pass. With that in mind, in June, we shared that Annual Passholders will receive a one-month (30 days) extension to their pass. This additional month will automatically be processed and visible in their My Disney Experience account over the coming weeks. A further extension due to theme park closures at the Disneyland® Resort will be applied to your pass 6–8 weeks after Disneyland® Resort Theme Parks reopen. Please note that Disneyland® Resort will have different Park reservation rules and availability for its theme parks. More information about Disneyland® Resort theme park reservations will be shared at a later date.

If you prefer, you can cancel your pass and receive any applicable refund in lieu of the additional month. Now through August 11, 2020, call V.I.PASSHOLDER Support at 407-939-7277 to cancel your pass or for assistance on any individual concerns. We anticipate heavy call volume and appreciate your patience as we answer all inquiries.
We hope these latest updates help to make your experience a magical one.
Hope to see you real soon!

I got it too. I’m guessing my pass will now expire in February or March. Original expiration was 7/22. It’s now 11/24. The one month add on will bring it to 12/24 or 12/25. Plus the extended Disneyland closure I’m guessing another 2-3 months added on from that.

If the OC BOE had zero jurisdiction/enforcement capability... why did they even bother to vote on this?

Why do they even exist? LOL

That's like me voting to reopen Disneyland 8-)

Super jealous. LBUSD followed LAUSD today and went all online until October. So mad right now.

Sorry to go off topic - had to vent.

It’s so weird. But in looping it back to DL, I think it is not a good sign; it’s basically Orange County signaling that they aren’t really interested in getting control of their numbers and that people should just display more “courage” 🤦‍♀️ I don’t think all the courage in the world is going to get our theme parks open 😞

This whole not knowing when or if the parks are opening things is driving me crazy. I can’t wait to go back! I just hope it’s soon!

That's part of the reason we decided to cancel. Couldn't handle the roller coaster anymore - or the Coronacoaster, as it were 😉

There's a lot of signs that the parks won't open anytime soon, sadly.

I guess, like, they are an advisory board or something? They can make recommendations but districts aren't beholden to what they say.

I honestly don't really know what their purpose is.

Our district is holding a meeting tonight to make a final decision on what the school year will look like.

The fact that Newsom in going backwards in the States reopening is a pretty good indicator that the parks opening aren't in the near future. OC is back to Stage 2 opening with gyms, salons, nonessential offices, indoor worship services being closed in addition to bars/pubs, indoor entertainment venues and inside dinning at restaurants.

We break this virus by doing it together. If we don't act together, we will continue down this path of fits of opening/closing with large scale operations like DLR being the last to open due to its sheer size --regardless of whatever policy Disney has in place.

So if we can't stifle this virus prevalence below 7% consistently here in California, we're not going get to DLR reopening. 1month out at the earliest is what I see.
