Do MVMCP usually sell out far in advance or can you wait to purchase there...?

We are goping to WDW for 2 weeks in December and want to experience MVMCP. We read reports here that some of you got rained on very badly and I don't want that. The problem is that you can't know the weather forcast before a few days before the event.

Should we still buy our tickets in advance or wait till we are there?

I understand that Fridays sell out first, but other than that I imagine that weeknights, like Tuesday, you could decide the day of.

I was there Dec 6 to 13. The weather was crappy so I waited until the day of the Dec 10 party (Tuesday) when it cleared up in the afternoon to buy the tickets. I had to pay $5 extra per ticket because it was the same day but it was worth it because the Dec 12 party (my other alternative) turned out to be a washout. Last year I bought tickets the day before for a Sunday night. Fridays nights sold out, but not until a month or less before.

The tickets went on sale in late April and there was a big rush to buy tickets. Then there were a bunch of posts saying "changed our plans, what do I do with the tickets". I wouldn't be in a hurry when they go on sale.

We bought in advance for Tuesday, 12/17. Crowds were very light and weather was wonderful. We had such a terrific experience that we bought tickets for Thursday, 12/19. Crowds were much heavier this night but again weather was wonderful. Next Christmas trip we will go a little earlier in December and I will probably buy tickets ahead of time because I'm more of a planner and will want to make sure we have them. Also, when I originally purchased the tickets for 12/17, the CM suggested this night because the FL schools wouldn't be out until Wednesday, therefore, she thought crowds would be lighter (they were, not sure if it was because of the FL residence being there that night or not though). I know the week we were there tickets were available for both nights. The Friday, 12/20, tickets were all sold out ahead of time. Good luck. I'll bet you're going to enjoy MVMCP!

We got lucky - we went on 12/10 and the weather had cleared up the afternoon so that the evening was wonderful!! I felt bad for 12/9 & 12/12 and heard people say they wouldn't buy in advance again. I think it really was a fluke week - they got more 3 times more rain that week than is normal for the whole month!! We're going again this year and do plan on pre-purchasing our tickets. Not so much b/c I'm afraid it will sell out but for us part of the experience was dining at LTT and I know that those PS were filled up for every night and every time well in advance. So we'll be taking our chances and getting tickets the day they go on sale!
