Does Universal have something similar to DAS?

You can call ahead and register for AAP. It may be easier to explain your complicated issue when you’re not standing in public and pressured to get your park day started. You still have to go to guest relations and pick it up. They give you a Reference ID number and that’s all you need to give in the park, no discussion of your needs at pick up time.

Call: 407- 224-4233, option 5.

Thanks! I'll look into this as well.

Do you know how far in advance you can do this?

I have another quick question, can you use the AAP for Hagrid's?

Just wondering if we need to plan to race there first thing in the morning to avoid lines or if I would be able to use an AAP on that if I get one.

Yes

Warning about HAgrids. My mother used DAS at Disney and had the pass for Universal. She got use to the relatively short lines and waits using LL at Disney with DAS. She usually didn’t have an issue getting out of her scooter and walking some lines at Disney. Hagrids was our first Universal line with their equivalent of DAS. The line you need to use for Hagrids is much longer then any LL at Disney. It was a very long walk. They don’t let you use the ECV in the line but you can transfer to one of the park wheelchairs. She turned that down at the start of the line and regretted it.

Thank you so much for posting this. I called today and it was so easy to set up the APP ahead of time.

What were their instructions upon arrival to collect your paper pass? Did you still go to Guest Relations and wait in the line there?

Yes, you still have to go to guest relations and pick up your pass, but it is already set up, so no need to go over things. They give you a reference number and then they issue the pass that day. It takes stress off of me because I know Universal is stricter than Disney and I was so worried how that meeting would go. So having that set up now, is definitely taking my anxiety down.
But, yes, you still have to stand in line to wait for it that day.

Okay. We never have an issue getting ours, but it can be difficult to wait in the long line to even get to the counter. I was hoping there would be a different pickup location if you did in advance. They don't have enough TM working there.

Are the counters in the park or outside the park?
Can anyone tell me the locations?
I've never had to do this at these parks before.

Both parks have one once you go in through the gates to the right. There is usually a line outside and you go inside as room permits. There usually is about 3-4 people working at park opening.

Studios has a walk up window before you go inside the park but all the lines outside can be very long. The window outside handles ticket issues at that window as well so it moves a bit slower. We had a ticket issue last trip so were sent over to them, I asked if they could do the AAP and they said yes. It is depending on what time you get there.

I assume IOA has a window outside but I've never used that one.

Yes both parks have both a guest relations area both inside and outside the park. There is also a guest relations area at Hogwarts Express Hogsmeade Station. I think it just a small desk at Kings Cross station. We had to deal with this because someone in our party decided to rip the pass to make it small thus invalidating the pass, so we had to get a new one. Make sure you take a picture of your pass in case something happens to it. You also have to get a new pass if the one you have gets soaked by a ride or the rain.

Hello Everyone!

On my last trip to Disney, I finally decided to sign up for a DAS pass. For many years, I thought I didn't need it, but, as it turns out, it was a huge help. I don't mind sharing the details of why I needed it; maybe hearing why I needed it may help someone else.

Having the DAS to make return times really helped me manage my stress knowing and knowing I could take my time as well. We used it in tandem with Genie+ and it was great.

So, my question is: Does Universal have something similar? My friend and I are planning a Universal day for our trip next year, and I couldn't really find a lot of info on their website. Also, sorry if this isn't the right place to ask; I wasn't sure if I should post here or in the Universal thread.

Thanks!
Yes, you go to guest relations when you get there and explain your disability and what you need. They won't reserve times for you but they will give you a card. You then choose your ride and at the entrance of the ride the TM will write down the return time (i.e. if Hagrid's is a 90 minute wait, then they'll tell you to come back in 90 minutes and write it on your pass). When you return, you and your family will be escorted to the express pass line or a special point in the line for the case of Hagrid's which doesn't have an express). Sea World works the same way. Unlike Disney, you don't have to be on hold for several hours weeks before your trip. Although they can't legally ask you about your disability, I do always bring paperwork to show them and offer that up to make things easier.

Hi all- how does this work with an AP? My son is autistic and both flap stems in closed spaces and can have outbursts including eloping.

I’m unsure of every stay we can do an express pass but was planning on getting him and AP for Christmas. Is universal’s DAS (AAP I think) something that would need to be renewed often or good for a certain length of time?

Is it exceptionally difficult to get for those like my son? He could be having either a great moment where he presents as neuro typical or a terrible full on outburst when we apply and there is simply no knowing.

To clarify - you don't have to use advanced DAS setup at Disney. You can always wait until you arrive and go to guest services to request the DAS.

You don’t have to be on hold for hours for the DAS at Disney either…that’s a choice, not a requirement.

I believe it's good for two weeks. Just keep the pass and when you go the next time after that two week period, show them the expired pass at any of the guest relations windows and explain your child's disability. They will renew it. We have APs and it's not a problem. I haven't had a problem getting a pass for my child.

I have a similar situation--adult daughter w/ cognitive impairment and autism. Never had a problem getting pass at WDW, would we be denied one at US? And would it be for our whole party of 5, or just her and one guest? I am ready to buy tickets but debating between WDW and US based on this issues.

I belie it is up to 5 guest and was told you can call US and get there form of the DAS over the phone
