We booked an Oasis cruise for next year at the GTY status. So what will we mostly likely get? The catagory we booked, booked catagory with a bad view or an upgrade. What have been your experiences?

depends on what type of GTY it is. The outcomes may be different depending on whether it is a suite, junior suite, balcony, ocean view, or interior GTY. What is the GTY letter code?

That would be a central park balcony, so you would be looking down at deck 8 (central park) from either deck 10 or deck 11. The only downsides to those balconies is you will be directly across from someone else's balcony on the other side of central park, so you may find keeping your drapes drawn when you're in your cabin to be a prudent idea ;)

So it sounds like you just get the regular stateroom in your catagory. They wont upgrade and we wont get a weird angle view.

Not necessarily. You're GUARANTEED at least the regular stateroom in your category. However, upgrades do happen. But whether YOU consider it an upgrade could be different than whether Royal considers it an upgrade.

True, although rare. The upgrade sequence from a C2 would be C1, then The Boardwalk balconies (B2 and B1) and then the ocean view balconies (D7-D1). The op may get bumped up from a C2 to a C1 or to a Boardwalk balcony, but a multi-category bump is very rare.

At the most I figured if they upgraded us (know it is a long shot) it would be to the Boardwalk catagory. Anything above the catagory we booked would be an upgrade, but we would be fine with the C2 too. I was just curious how often this occurs.

Upgrades from a GTY cabin are very rare. However, up to final payment date if prices drop on the cruise, you may be able to upgrade yourself at little to no cost (we've done this several times. The best one was from an E3 on Freedom to a Junior Suite for $130).
