Given how popular the annual event is, it’s a bit of a surprise that we haven’t already seen a Halloween Horror Nights feature film of some kind. Such a project could presumably either adapt an original Halloween Horror Nights maze or perhaps even center on a group of park-goers terrorized at Halloween Horror Nights, but nothing is in the works at this time.
That being said, Collider just asked Jason Blum about the potential to turn Halloween Horror Nights into a horror movie, and Blum revealed it’s something he’s actually thought about.
“Yes! Definitely! We’ve actually talked about it,” Blum told the site. “We haven’t quite figured it out, but there’s definitely a movie in Halloween Horror Nights somewhere.”
Many of Blumhouse’s horror films, including Us, Happy Death Day and The Purge, have had a presence at Halloween Horror Nights over the years, so it would make a lot of sense for Blumhouse to be the company behind a feature film adaptation of the annual Universal Studios event. But it’s important to note that at this time, the conversation here is purely hypothetical.
