Pricing out a vacation for our family in January 14-22 2025. It will be my sons first trip and just before his 3rd birthday. My wife and I have been to WDW many times including our engagement back in 2018 but mainly stay at value resorts. I vote POP, and wife says AKL.
We priced out a trip directly through the Disney website for room only and a standard room at POP that came to a total of $1608 including taxes. I then went to our favorite DVC rental website and the same trip came to a total of $1610 so the cost is the same.
We have stayed at POP a few times before the Skyliner was installed so are familiar with the area. During one of our off days, we did a walk through of AKL including getting a snack at the Mara. Aside from that, we dont have any history here.
My reasoning for POP is
With that said, what hotel would you chose and why? Am I crazy for leaning towards Pop Century over Animal Kingdom Lodge?

My reasoning for POP is
- Larger food court with more seating
- Accessibility to the Skyliner
- Walking distance to AoA for exploring, food court, and photos.
- Better themed for my almost 3 yr old son
- We have not stayed there before
- Extra Magic Hours (I say we wont use this because I dont think its fair to keep my son up that late)
- See the animals on our non park days
- Better pool (Its January so chances of using it are slim)
