Thanks for your service and your perspective. If it comes to that (and obviously I’m hoping it won’t) get creative and use FaceTime. He doesn’t have to miss it. Obviously it won’t be the same as being there, but it is better than missing it all together. I say this as a mom who has had to watch many of my children’s firsts through FaceTime from a combat zone, and who has many friends whose only option to see their child born was FaceTime or Skype back in the day. It’s not ideal by any means, but you do what you have to do when you are dealt unfortunate cards.
Thanks! DH is Sun so I guess we have a couple of more days to wait.Approval. Woke up to a email re new account on Mint. I had called yesterday and it was at 2 weeks. Applied Friday evening using DH support link. With the way things are - stay at home state - no MSing for now. Property taxes are coming up so that will be the bulk of this MSR.
I’m planning to make another reservation at the end of this week when the booking window opens for the end of February. I also booked 4 days mid February for my daughter with points from our cancelled trip this month. I had extra points so I figured might as well let her use some.
Tomorrow’s a big day at our house as DS starts virtual learning/school/whatever you want to all it. His teachers will be using and he’ll need to get out of his PJs and ready by 9 am for Spanish. T and Th his classes won’t start until 11 am. We’ll see how it goes. Wish me luck and not too many new gray hairs since I can’t see my stylist.
I am not quite that organized with the APs. We usually get 2 trips with an AP, but we live farther away and we aren’t retired. This past year we had 3 trips which was great, I already bought new APs and was going to activate them in March and hoped to get 3 trips again but now they won’t be activated until November. Most likely they will get used twice. Which is fine with me and still worthwhile. I don’t get APs for our kids but if they come with us I buy their tickets. 2 are still in school but the one who is working now full time will buy her own ticket since I am letting her use points for her trip.I also made reservations in January and then 1 night in February - trying to guess the Moonlight night as I won't (probably) start use of my next annual pass until fall of 2021. I try to do a year and then skip and use 'days' in between. Getting Moonlight would mean a night I wouldn't use a day from my stash.
Also, I'm hoping to hit the week my niece will come which depends on schedules not set yet and stay with her family and my brother and wife in the big house, using the one night to get us passes for MM. That also depends on whether everyone (brother and sister in law) remain healthy and able to travel. Both are (okay brother -77) (fantastic sister in law -73) right now.
And that concludes my 2020 Oct points plus a few borrowed from Oct 2021. Want to save as many 2021 as possible to use during the Oct 2021 to October 2022 period for when I have my next annual pass. Basically, this process eliminates 1 summer of pass eligibility. Hey - a word with 4 'i's! Anyway, as planned - my current pass covered Nov 2019, Jan 2020, Feb 2020, Oct 2020, Nov 2020 (and a few days more depending on what Disney does - this use year that's a possible 5 trips. I usually aim for 3 trips.
“Insert card”... does your Costco not do tap and pay? Tap and pay is even faster!
With that announcement the mayor of Miami got it you’d think the rest of the politicians in the state of FL would start taking this more seriously!

Our hospital is still at about 60% capacity. The nurses and doctors will be fine but the food service workers, housekeepers, transporters, therapy aides, dietary aides, and other lower-income jobs are getting their hours cut dramatically. Who would have thought during a pandemic hospitals would be laying off.
I feel more optimistic about things after some of the news today. Americans really need to get back to work.
After reading some of your posts I'm really glad I live in a spread-out city. Other than paper products I haven't had a problem getting supplies. Costco and Sam's are back to normal. The weather is in the upper 70's low 80's and dry. A lot of people out biking, hiking, golfing, playing outside with their kids. I've been running a lot, taking naps, and trying to do some Spring cleaning on my days off.
Hotel parking lots in my neighborhood look full. I assume some people are still coming here to play golf. I'm still planning my Baltic cruise in August, but I'm flexible on that. I'm still planning on WDW in late April, but I've got back up plans for June.
Tonight I feel hopeful... I don't know why. I can't explain it. It might not be founded in any science or fact. BUT I feel hopeful! And I'm going to take that! This is going to get better - maybe in 2 weeks, maybe in 6 weeks, maybe in 3 months... but we're going to come out of this on the other side!!
Yesterday was a very hard day... my parents had to put our dog to sleep. Over 15 years she was with us - I still lived at home when she joined the family. She was with us through a lot and it's always hard to say goodbye. And so it was a hard day.
BUT today was good. I hope your today was good, and if it wasn't, I hope that your tomorrow is better!!
Well we have our first covid-19 positive patient at my nursing home. Just got the confirmed results a couple hours ago. I knew it was coming. We swabbed and sent away for testing yesterday before sending her to the ER- 85 yo woman with a very full medical history- woke up with a temp and couldn’t get her oxygen above 80%. No word back on how she’s doing. She was admitted to our facility mid-February and we haven’t been allowing visitors for about a week and a half so I have to think it came through staff somehow. We’ve been screening every employee and taking temps every morning before entering the facility so must be someone asymptomatic. Of course I’m assuming a lot, but that’s what seems to make the most sense. Tomorrow will be an interesting day for sure. Praying for the patient and her family (who the hospital hasn’t let see her yet). And prayers please for all of our other patients at our facility. Some have been there since I started there back in 2007 so they truly are like family.
How long does it usually take to receive CIP in the mail after approval? 2 weeks?
