Hi, all.
I just got back from VWL. I was in a two-bedroom unit for seven nights. I've been a DVC member since July 2005 (I can't believe it's almost two years already), and all my points are at VWL. However, for various reasons, this trip was my first stay at VWL. (I did stay at the hotel part of Wilderness Lodge back in about 1995.)
I bought my points at VWL because I knew I loved Wilderness Lodge. At the time I became a DVC member, I hadn't seen the villas. However, I went there and looked around when I went to WDW in February 2006. I was very impressed with how nice and how intensely themed the villas building was.
So the only thing I had left to do was see the inside of a unit. I must say that based on the photos I had seen, I wasn't all that impressed. (But that wasn't enough of an issue to keep me from buying at VWL.) I expected to be underwhelmed, but when I entered my villa, I was blown away. The rooms had seemed very sparse and stark in the photos, but in person it was very warm and cozy - just like everythign else at VWL. I loved the decor. I loved the layout. This made me happier than ever that I bought at VWL.
I was in room 2535. It had two balconies. It faced the woods, but I could make out a little bit of the lake through the trees. I can't believe what a wonderful place VWL is. I don't need to stay there every time (I know, for example, that I'll want to try the new Animal Kingdom villas), but it's so comforting to know that if I'm not able to switch, VWL - my favorite - is where I'll wind up.
