Thursday 18th May
I had a better nights sleep and hadn't felt the ship leave Aruba at 12.30am. I was just catching up on my trip report when just after 8am it was announced that we had arrived in Curacao
We got up and went off for a jog around the running track, we then had our usual skinny lattes, showered then disembarked around 10am
It was a lovely walk into Willemstad. We wandered past designer stores and a fort that had been converted into a shopping & bar area, next we walked alongside the river and you could see the colourful buildings on the other side of the river. It was lovely just walking along and taking photos. We then walked over the Queen Emma Bridge (a floating bridge) into the town
Once again this little town seemed mainly to cater for the upper end shopper from the cruise ships with all the designer shops. We took a nice walk around taking photos as we passed by
It was a very picturesque town, but we weren't really there to shop. We headed back to the bridge only to find that it was swinging back to the other side of the river as a tanker was heading towards it, and as no-one knew how long this would take, we decided to take the free ferry back over to the other side
Once back at the fort, and because it was now 30c we stopped off at a bar for some water, and something stronger as it was rude not too, so I tried a Curacao Island Sunset cocktail (Mmm) and Paul had a couple of lagers, and we sat chilling and chatting to a couple we’d ran into several times on the ship
Once back onboard we grabbed some lunch and as the line for the Mongolian Wok was quiet, we had a chicken noodle dish freshly prepared for us and it was delish
We spent the afternoon sunbathing and at 4.30pm we watched as the Splendor left Curacao, then we had a couple of drinks at the Serenity Bar
We got showered and ready for dinner. I had chicken tenders to start which I'm sure would've been nicer if they’d just been a bit warmer, and Paul had some sort of ham dish. For our mains we both had lasagne with a side of ratatouille which was very nice
We spent the rest of the evening chatting to May the server at El Mojito who had made the amazing Martinis for us this week then we briefly popped to the casino
Today was our last Island stop, we now have two lazy days at sea to enjoy
Tomorrow - Day at Sea
