Marathon Weekend 2025

So now that I registered through my charity link, when I go to sign my waiver it's giving me an error saying that the signature name must match the registrant's name (which they do, even trying with middle initial) Has anyone gotten that error before? Not real worrried about it as I know I can just wait and sign the waiver at the expo if needed.

EDIT: Never mind, it seems to work now so must have been user error.
that's my most common type of computer error.

Question about merch for those of you who have done the marathon before: do the weekend jackets usually sell out quickly? I thought I remembered seeing them when I picked up my 10k bib on Thursday this year, but might be mistaking it with something else. I'd rather wait to buy it because at close to $100 the AP discount is substantial, and I want to be sure I get the right size.
Smalls and mediums go quick, within the first couple hours of the expo if I remember right. By early afternoon I think larges were gone as well, I don't know exactly what time. I remember because one of my friends was trying to get a L marathon jacket and had a later VQ and I offered to grab one for them since I was there early, and they said they'd take their chances but they were gone by the time they got in. Someone feel free to correct me though! If you are a S-L you can probably preorder and easily find someone to buy it off you for list price, and then just try and purchase with your discount at the expo if you get in early enough. I'm not sure if XL and above are as easy to sell.

Thanks! Do you find they are true to size? I usually wear a medium so I'll probably pre-order that size, since I don't mind if jackets fit me big, unless they run SUPER big, lol.

Just saw this on a blog and it's right inline with what we were talking about RE airlines.
*I hope I am able to post this link 😬
I don't have too much experience with severely delayed flights or cancellations and I'm usually okay with flight credits since I travel enough. But hopefully this works in the consumers favor and there won't be a lot of exemptions like weather or maintenance...We did have experience in January with my family trying to fly out to Disneyland during a snowstorm. Their flight was cancelled so they ended up driving to a different city to catch a flight out. I learned you don't automatically get a refund for a canceled flight! You have to go on their (delta) website and cancel it on your own or request reimbursement. Which I thought was ridiculous.

Back in the olden days we used to call this a "picnic" error -- problem in chair not in computer. :D

They are honestly all over the place, but if there's a tendency it is to run a bit small.

Agree with @The Expert in that they tend to run small, especially for women's fit. Unisex is a total tossup but usually one of my two sizes fit me so I'd order the larger side, in all honestly I don't think the sizes change THAT much when you go up so if it's a little baggy it's not usually too bad. I always figure worst case there's always someone smaller than me that would want it if it ended up too small :hyper:

Fantastic! Side note -- how did I not remember you're in Montreal? You're right up the road from me since my move last year!
Yes, and if there is a good race in your area, please let me know. I am always looking for excuses to visit and travel!

ETA: And when we mentioned the eclipse, I was in Owl’s Head, near Mansonville. Literally 15 minutes from the border and 30 minutes from Jay Peak.

Good afternoon RunDisney All-Stars! Welcome to this week's edition of Sundays are for Disney (SAFD). Registration for Marathon Weekend is largely done and dusted and we now enter that long wait for the event to arrive, so let's dream a bit. When you get done running your race(s), be they 5k, marathon, Dopey or anything in between, what's your favorite place to celebrate your accomplishment?

SAFD: This isn't really a great SAFD for me, as I'm usually there solo and don't do anything special to celebrate. Depending on how I feel, I'll generally chew and see if there are any appealing table service reservations available. This past year, I went into Epcot and had dinner at the Rose and Crown before heading back to rest up for DATW.

SAFD: Another solo runner for marathon weekend. While I usually have friends along the other weekends, I haven’t convinced anyone to run the marathon with me yet! But I have made it my tradition to do Topolinos for breakfast Monday morning and then Magic Kingdom for castle medal photos. I also always do Epcot post race on Sunday for nachos and a celebratory margarita.

SAFD: After my first solo MW last year, I’ll have my DS with me this year. He’ll be doing his first half. We’ll likely save the celebratory dinner for Sunday after Dopey. Usually we do Epcot and have a nice sit down dinner. We haven’t really discussed where it will be this year but le Cellier is always a favorite race weekend choice.

Monday I’m hoping to join in on the DATW fun but that will mean giving up MK medal pictures as we don’t usually opt for Park Hoppers. Something for us to think about.

SAFD: I always go to Beaches & Cream after my longest race of the weekend. Except last weekend, I had to move my celebration meal to Monday because I wanted to go to Dapper Day at MK, and then the Splash Party in the evening, I though it would just be too much travel time.

SAFD: We do a Sunday night celebratory dinner, but not always at the same place. I started to list some of the places we’ve eaten, but then couldn’t remember which ones were race weekend celebrations, and which were special meals for non-race weekends. 😂😂. We usually aren’t in a park after a race, so it’s either a resort, Disney Springs, or once, we did Flying Fish. We’ve done Sanaa for sure, which is a favorite, and Toledo was fantastic. It’s our goal each trip to “collect” new restaurants, as well as visit old favorites. On the drive home, we usually make a list of all the new restaurants/attractions/resorts that we’ve done.

SAFD: I’m basically useless after the marathon. So I lay around my room, and DH is an angel who brings me food that I finally feel hungry enough to eat by around 7pm. (This is just how my body works…I can polish off a sandwich on the reunion area immediately post-race and then my gut is done for like 6 hours. If I miss that sandwich, I feel horrible and it takes even longer for me to want to eat.)

But for during-the-weekend meals, I like to hit Sanaa, Morimoto, paddlefish, and sometimes Homecomin for brunch blueberry mimosas. Staying at SSR makes the DS restaurants super easy for us to walk to, which is good forced-recovery.

SAFD: Our post-race celebration wasn’t something we originally planned. After our first marathon in 2013, my sister and I were pretty much a wreck. We made it back to our room at POR well enough, but after an afternoon of showering and resting (we were very new to running and had zero knowledge about recovery) walking was much more difficult than we remembered.

We were not seasoned rD, or Disney in general, pros at the time and had not planned anything. We decided to walk over to the main building at Riverside and check to see if we could get in at the restaurant (it was as far as we were willing to go on that day); if not, we were fine with pizza, chicken nuggets and fries from the quick service. Despite what appeared to be a glut of other runners in our exact same situation, we were able to get in at Boatwright’s after a short wait.

I’m pretty sure I just about ate my weight in cornbread that night before my prime rib even arrived. Didn’t matter, still devoured everything when it did. Now, there may have been some first real food after our first marathon haze over my sister and I, but even the non-runners in our group agreed it was a great meal. We continued going back to Boatwright’s for cornbread and prime rib for our Sunday night, now post-Dopey, celebratory meal for the next few years.

At that point we started having a larger group and stopped staying at POR as our Marathon Weekend hub. As much as I’ve loved our off-site experiences, I definitely still have an emotional connection to those early rD weekends at POR. With our change in location (along with giving too much credence to some less than glowing reviews of Boatwright’s despite always having good experiences ourselves) we’ve also tried some of the more popular celebration spots around Disney (‘Ohana, Boma, Le Cellier) and even tried a couple places off-site.

We were back at Boatwright’s this year on Sunday for the first time in either 6 or 7 years. We missed it and made a point to make a reservation despite staying off-property. It was less crowded than it was on previous occasions. I think increased planning by runners for rD Weekends and celebrations has led to far fewer “I just ran a marathon, I’ve got nothing planned, I need to eat but don’t want to go anywhere” walk ups. It may not be for everyone, but cornbread and prime rib at Riverside still hits the spot for me.

It’s our goal each trip to “collect” new restaurants, as well as visit old favorites. On the drive home, we usually make a list of all the new restaurants/attractions/resorts that we’ve done.
This! I keep a list of new restaurants and we always try to “collect” a new one while not missing out on our old favorites!
