I'm going to be working on several Trip Reports starting from August 2013 up until my most recent May 2014 trip with several in between. I'm a new user to these boards and I can't say how much I've enjoyed all the wonderful trip reports I've been reading and keeping up with.
Disney World Mother/Daughter Trip Report August 9-11 , 2013
Day 1, Part 1 August 9, 2013
[/B]Mom and I were so excited for our FIRST Mother/Daughter Disney World trip. She nurtured my love for Disney as a child and as an adult (24 to be exact) I couldn't wait to share this with her. It was all sorts of nostalgia and great memories for us.
I hadn't gone to Disney with my mom since I was about 12 years old. All my recent trips were with my boyfriend turned fiancé turned husband (more on him in future trip reports). This was going to be a special trip, I could feel it, and boy was I right!
We live 4 hours south of Orlando and woke up very early for our departure! We want to make the most of our 3-day trip. I'm always the early bird in my family but when my mom came to pick me up at my house I was asleep (silly alarm did not go off) and took about 10 minutes to shower and get ready! Luckily I packed the night before. So, only a few minutes off schedule, we hit the road!
It was a wonderful and quick 4 hours with lots of chatter, Disney music and snacking along the way.
Notice all the snacks in the back seat? And that is me by the way! I had to take a selife, I was just so excited!
We pulled into the Most Magical Place on Earth fairly around 10:30am! I exclaimed, "We are in DIDNEY WORL" and we both laughed and got so excited as we drove under the magical arch. It never gets old does it?
My mom and I booked a room at AKL with a Savannah view. Staying at a deluxe resort was a first for both of us, so I can confidently say both of our jaws dropped as we walked into that beautiful lobby. Of course we had to stop for photos.
After taking the appropriate amount of time to admire and explore the lobby and surrounding area we quickly checked in and made our way to the room. Now this was back when Magic Bands were in BETA testing but we were lucky enough to be chosen for testing (self five) and I was really giddy about it. I got pink and mom got green! We made it to the room and were again taken aback by the beauty of our view complete with giraffes and zebras!
After lots of "OOs" and "Ahhs" we decided to hit Downtown Disney for a much needed lunch! Check for Part 2 coming shortly!
