The Muppets are headed into the Haunted Mansion in the upcoming Disney+ special Muppets Haunted Mansion, announced today with a fun little teaser trailer you’ll find below!

Deadline details, “The Muppets’ first-ever Halloween special, Muppets Haunted Mansion will feature the Muppets cast, celebrity cameos and new music and spooky amusement for families to enjoy later this fall. Muppets Haunted Mansion will take place on Halloween night, when Gonzo is challenged to spend one night in The Haunted Mansion.”

Announced just last month, a new live-action feature film adaptation of the popular Haunted Mansion attraction is also in the works, with Justin Simien (Bad Hair) in talks to direct.

The dark ride attraction, which launched in 1969 and is still going strong today at Disney parks, “sees theme park guests go inside a spooky and creepy manor that has a wide array of supernatural frights. It also features a graveyard’s worth of characters.” The most popular characters include Hatbox Ghost, Madame Leota, The Phantom and the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

Rob Minkoff directed the feature film The Haunted Mansion back in 2003, the first big screen adaptation of the ride. Eddie Murphy starred in the film. More recently, Guillermo del Toro was attached to adapt the ride for a brand new movie. Alas, it never came to life.

When you combine The Muppets and Disney together you will get a fun combination and I think that this new Muppets Haunted Mansion special will be a Halloween hit for Disney+ when it debuts. I have always liked The Muppets because they are full of humor and funny to watch and considering the many Muppets movies that they have Muppets Haunted Mansion will be a winner

They could have a whole Halloween Collection if Disney would dip into their vaults from the Wonderful World of Disney and the early Disney Channel specials. From Sunday night Wonderful World of Disney The Magic Mirror episodes Unsung Villians, Our Greatest Villians, and All About Magic. The Halloween special that starred Johnathon Winters Halloween Hall O' Fame from 1977. Disney Halloween from 1983. They have the Boogedy movies out so add Child of Glass. There was another one that I don't remember the name but it was about the witch trying to replace Dracula as head of monsters. In the end they had a disco party. Dated yes, but it is Halloween fun. Edit to add the name is the The Halloween That Almost Wasn't from 1979.

There's no exact release date, but apparently it's coming out in October.

I know it's avaliable on youtube- it took me ages to realise it was Charles Grodin (Nicky Holiday from the Great Muppet Caper) playing the villain in it

Just watched it !!! Absolutely loved !! Especially the inside Disney attraction joke--- very funny !!!

Worth watching again - Pepe is hilarious !

Bravo

We just watched both the Muppets and Lego. Loved Muppets Haunted Mansion but the Star Wars Lego Terrifying Tales was ok. Also felt the holiday one was much better.

Trust the new PC Disney to go heavy on the randomly inserted/replacement female and ethnic characters....
