Hi
Having been totally disappointed at the cost of the DCL short cruises for next Summer I started looking at alternatives....
We have now booked a 4 night cruise to The Bahamas on The Enchantment of Seas sailing July 4th 2016 :)
It is an add on to our Florida holiday none of which is booked yet as its way too early to book flights from the UK!

My main concern is that we might be disappointed with The EoS having only previously sailed on The Wonder & The Magic....

It's me & DH plus our 11 year old son.

Have we done right?!!

Anyone sailed this ship recently? The reviews are a bit mixed on Cruise Critic!

Enchantment doesn't have a lot of the bells & whistles that the other ships have (Freedom class and Oasis class). However, if your cruise stops in a port each day, I think you'll be fine.

My daughter wants to go on Enchantment next year for spring break. We have been checking out some youtube videos. I do not think it looks as nice as the Disney Cruises, BUT it does look nice. I think you will have a nice time and the prices are much better.

We (DH and I) have been on the Enchantment twice - May 2013 and September 2014. It was our 3rd and 5th cruise. Our first and second cruises were on the Liberty and Voyager. I was worried about the size of the Enchantment but the 75 stretch really makes this ship a nice, managable size. The first time we were on the 2nd floor (very noise the last night with the moving of all the luggage below us) and 2nd time we had a mid ship balcony, perfect!

a friend and I went on Enchantment of the Seas about a year ago.we were in a Junior Suite. It did seem to have a little bit of wear and tear in the room. the ship is definitely on the smaller side. Not always a bad thing. Our biggest issue was my time dining. we could never just show up and eat. We always had to wait or be put with a large table who all knew each other but us. so I suggest making reservations ahead of time if possible.I can't speak for the kid activities. But I did notice a lot of kids just roaming around the ship on their own. In about the age group of your son.so maybe they didn't have that many activities for that age group I don't know. my friend and I did have exceptional service from our cabin attendant, wait staff, and all the bartenders.

as mentioned it is an older ship but the upkeep is fantastic. the overall size of the ship is smaller than what I've been on in the past but don't let the size throw you. it was very convenient to be able to get from 1 end to the other in a short amount of time. me and my wife were in a 7th floor balcony room on the starboard side which was great. the bathroom was small but that is typical for that type of room on a cruise-ship. we had no issues with the MTD and we always had a table for 2 (it was our honeymoon so we wanted to be left alone). some nights we called to make a reservation, other nights we just winged it and went whenever. we didn't have any issues doing either way. there are lots of activities for kids and adults, we were never bored at all. we were constantly doing something: even if that meant just having a drink and listening to the live music. other than having an issue with our dining room waiter everyone was fantastic and very pleasant to talk to.

We sailed on Enchantment in January and I wasn't impressed. It was smoky all around the casino which meant that at least 50% of the trivia events were not attendable for me and I ended up super sick from being exposed to so much smoke. I'm not a DCL groupie - I loved Freedom, and NCL and Princess - but couldn't ever sail on Enchantment again. It felt like an older ship too, especially since we had been on Freedom two weeks earlier and she was beautiful.

We just got off the Disney Magic last week, and can't wait to back get on Enchantment in July. The pool deck is easily four times the size of Magic, and unlike Disney, the pools actually stay open (the Goofy pool) never opened before 9:30, and the adult pool never before 8:30, and once dinner started, the kids splash zone and the Goofy pool closed for the night. As for the kids programs, both of our grandsons (8 and 15) loved the programs on Enchantment.

Where were they holding the trivia events?

On our Vision cruise (same class) they held them in Schooner Bar, which was NOT smoky as it was nowhere near the Centrum and casino.

Whereas on Freedom (which you enjoyed) when they also held them in Schooner, I could NOT attend because it was right at the exit of the casino.

Guess they do things differently on different ships and sailings.
