Official 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend - CANCELED

Through sweat? I have not heard of that before.
Quick search makes me think that is not true unless it mixes with other contaminated respiratory bodily fluids, but I could have looked at a few wrong articles.
Yeah, sweat isn't the problem. But runners spit, blow snot out of their nostrils and breathe deeply and forcefully in and out. All of those things can spread this.

With all the events from yesterday and today, this might be cancelled. Also telling.. rundisney has not tweeted anything about Star Wars in a while. Usually they will tweet about it.. but nothing.

Let’s see what options rundisney will offer, if any.

Looks like the Grapefruit League is done for the year.

I am perfect for SW at WDW and I really don't want this thing to be cancelled, but I am less optimistic every day. I just hope that if it is cancelled that we find out within the next few days to change our plans. I am worried that they are going to leave it until the week before to make a decision (like NYC did with the half) which would leave a lot of us in a bind regarding hotel reservations and such.

I doubt we will get any $ back, but would guess that they will mail us our medals and shirts as those are likely already being made. If they do that then I would do the races virtually to feel like I earned it.
It would be great if they offered either another race weekend registration or a nice discount on a future race weekend but I wouldn't expect it.

I'm still holding out hope that things will calm done and all this panic will stop. The greatest odds are that nothing will happen to you, unless you are a high risk individual.
I don't know many high risk people that are runners. Known cases 1 for every 250,000 people in the USA. Deaths 1 per 9 million. My guess is most of these are the elderly.

Florida has not yet banned mass gatherings - though our governor encouraged local municipalities to do so. That said, in California, where gatherings of 250 or more have been banned, there are exceptions for casinos, movie theaters, and yes... Disney. I would 99.9% expect the same here in FL.

And a few theme park journalists are expecting an announcement of California if not all Domestic Theme parks being closed indefinitely to cone out in the next 24-72 hours!!!!!

As far as race I’d suspect a virtual run with medals and possibly shirts/bibs being shipped (and perfect status not being effected) pre race merchandise either also being mailed out or being refunded on an e gift card as a bare minimum

FWIW, the reason I signed up for this event was that my son will be in the marching band leading the Friday afternoon parade in the Magic Kingdom. We just got an email from the school saying they are in contact with both Disney and the tour company and staying as up to date as possible on things. As of right now they have no reason to believe the trip will be canceled. Again I know really the only thing in common between the race and the band trip is the timing and that both happen on disney proeperty but again just passing along what little bit of info I have.

I really think it's too early to know what will happen. Yes, a cancellation is possible. While over a month away is certainly close, that same period is further out from than the conclusion of events such as the NCAA basketball tournament, which is likely to be postponed/cancelled if that has not happened already. Again, we should all exercise caution and be smart but it's too early to know for certain what will or will not take place.

I think a refund if the entire park closes. Technically not required per contract, but like the NYRR they’ll not want to lose the goodwill.

Hope we hear something sooner rather than later. I'm only 3 days out from my 31 days on DVC points for full cancellation. I'm also perfect for the Star Wars races and hopefully they would leave that designation in tack. The bummer is that I have an annual pass that expires May 20th and I wouldn't want it to go to waste if everything is cancelled or Disney is closed. I'd hope Disney would extend my annual pass dates to cover any closure. Fingers crossed.

Closed from Saturday to the end of the month for now. WDW might follow suit

Since it is the same company with DLR closing WDW will be closing. WDW just has a lot more logistics to work through then DLR but they can't close one and keep the other open.

My choice would be move Star Wars to october in the old ToT slot.
