I put together a small, simple hunt for fall photo enthusiasts. It will run from now until the end of November. All are welcome to participate.

Photos should be new whenever possible as this is designed to get us out using our cameras. Remember to strive for good pictures! Relatively new pictures can be included if they capture a category.

Go get out and have some fall fun and be sure to get your pictures up and posted! :hmghost:

You can put the avatar in your signature when you've posted at least five categories.

Sounds like a fun hunt, thanks for all your work putting it together!

I am relatively new to the photography board and looking forward to participating :cool1: thank you!

Thanks Pea.

:scratchin I suspect my straight shooting for the categories might be almost non-existent, given that it's spring here and we don't do fall or thanksgiving the way you do. But I'll give it a try and see what I get.
The challenge for me might be to see how many I can get without stretching!

Interesting list for those of us in spring!!! :lmao:
Should be fun trying, anyway!!!
Thanks, Linda, for putting it together!

I wasn't exactly sure what season you Australian folks were in (seems like they go awfully fast!) but I have no doubt you'll all find a lot of things regardless as you have always shown yourselves to be star hunters even when the odds are against you finding things! :thumbsup2

I did try to get some food categories in there for you, Princess! :goodvibes

If anyone's wondering where to get a lot of categories at once, flea markets are a lot of fun! Except there's always at least one older woman who comes over with hands on hips thinking you're up to something sinister photographing her wares, lol.

I've already googled the recipe for Apple Cider donuts. :rolleyes1

And I will have to be really stretching the "fall" categories to not even remotely come close to getting them :rotfl:.

Yes, those donuts are from Carter Hill Orchard in Concord. Like a taste of heaven!

The whoopie pies are from Saffie's Bakery in Londonderry; they do craft fairs and sell in Shaw's around the state.

Fall ...er....Spring Fair

If it's September in Melbourne, it means spring, school holidays, Aussie Rules football finals and the Royal Melbourne Show. The Royal Melbourne Show is an annual event that has been held since 1848. I know the category is for Fall Fair....and we would normally expect a Harvest Festival of sorts....but it is Spring in Melbourne and this fits the category better than anything else coming up.

It is held over 11 days, coinciding with the spring school holidays, at the Melbourne Showgrounds - over 19 hectares of indoor/outdoor space, all within 7 km of the CBD or a 10 minute train ride out.

I attended the show over 2 days; so you might see a variety of weather in my shots....from brilliant sunshine and blue sky on the first day; overcast, rain and wind on the second day.

Why?

Well.....the first day was with the family and we thought we were done....until I came home and saw the scavenger hunt list posted. It was lucky we had a spare ticket!

I wouldn't have bothered going for the second day....except for the fact that there was one attraction there that fitted in with the category of....

Haunted Mansion or what is dubbed Horrorwood Mansion!

2011September27RoyalMelbShowD2010.jpg

2011September27RoyalMelbShowD2046.jpg

....and the promised bounty of categories, all Horror or Halloween related! See for yourself....

Lighted Jack-O-Lantern

Horrorwood Mansion was full of hollywood horror icons. It was awfully dark in there and hard to take pictures....but this one turned out well enough for Spooky Trails. Yes, it is Freddy!

2011September27RoyalMelbShowD2226.jpg

And outside the mansion, I caught a Costumed Reveller..

2011September27RoyalMelbShowD2221.jpg

...or two. Let's call this one Skull-(no)-et (ET phoned home and left)

2011September27RoyalMelbShowD2222.jpg

I hadn't gone into the mansion on the first visit (DS is scared by these sorts of things) and with the list out and a spare ticket....well.....it was just too good an opportunity to pass up on; particularly when you consider that Australia does not really celebrate Halloween nor Thanksgiving.

And my other "finds" from the Show?.....well....there were quite a few!
