A brief report and some pics. As many of you know, heavy rain was in the forecast for last Sunday at DL. It pounded down from about 3:00 a.m. until almost exactly 8:00 - right on the mark for rope drop. By 7:15, my feet and pant legs below the knees were soaked. But that was expected and I took it all in stride. Heavy rain/severe weather usually has an effect upon crowds and it certainly did last Sunday and I did a number of rides in the morning. Although the rain ended, essentially, by 8:00, it stopped and stared throughout the morning until about 11:00 or so. Other guests managed their time and arrived a little later. In the morning, crowds were great… although I paid a high premium for that in the form of soaked discomfort :-).

Since crowds were relatively light, not only was I the first person from rope drop at PP, but there was also only one person ahead of me when I got there. It was virtually a walk-on… for about five seconds and then the lengthy line began to build. Such micro lines are a rarity ever since they started the early morning entry, so that was a nice surprise.

The scoreboard on Buzz is still broken so even through I scored well, I missed the glory of my name in lights ;-). A few friends and I like to compare scores and I’ll often text them a pic of the board… when I’m in the #1 position ;-).

As per usual, I met a lot of nice people. Unless I can make it there for a short time on Friday morning, last Sunday will be my last visit to the park until early in the New Year. I head home to Chicago for the holidays soon.

I was disappointed that they weren’t making candy canes at any point that day. A CM told me that they were all made the previous night. Watching the handmade candy canes get rolled out is one of my Christmas highlights at DL. Oh well. I caught a bit of it the previous Sunday.

One high point of the day was that I witnessed a couple get engaged in front of the castle (pic below). It’s been awhile since I’ve seen that. In fact, that was my first time since the park reopened after the pandemic closure.

Some pics.
