We have only ever been to Pleasure Island to walk around during the day.My three teens (age 12,15 and 17) would like us to go out more in the evening.

They are too young for the clubs I guess? Is it worth eating there at night,if so where?

Or is there anything else we could do there??

Thanks
Karen:rolleyes:

You might try the Adventurers Club, it's a kinda comedy place/sketches/skits thing. Early on is fine for younger folk, but if you stay late, it gets a bit more, ummmm, adult humour (though not really bad, just a bit naughty) - though if they are 'enlightened' it would probably be fine - I was there till closing (surprising huh?) at 1am and there were kids there maybe 12-13, but they did look pretty tired.

I'm not 100% sure as I've never had to think about it, but I think maybe kids are allowed anywhere you like, (though that's not to say they might not feel out of place), basically when you enter, you get a wristband saying you've paid entry and a hand stamp if you are old enough to drink.

If you are around anyhow at midnight (it's New Years Eve every night you know  ), they let off a few fireworks, which is ok if you are there, but not worth making an effort for.

I've read on one of the other boards that kids are allowed in most of the clubs on Pleasure Island all night - I seem to think there are 3 that are adult only, but all the others are open to kids, although obviously they are not allowed to drink, and there will be plenty of adults around and it's a more adult atmosphere, so it depends on what you are comfortable with your kids seeing.

Saying all that, I think British kids are much more comfortable in that sort of situation, having been in pubs etc with their family since they were young (in Katie's case, since she was about 4 weeks old..) so I would imagine your kids would be fine.

Ok, I've been checking this out...

The BET soundstage Club & Mannequins Dance Palace are over 21's only, I think they are the only places with restrictions.

There is a bit of info here

If they would stick together, it would be worth checking out the "happenings" at the House of Blues. They often run "teen discos" which might be fun for them to go to together while you enjoy PI on your own , or just have a meal at DTD.

Thanks for all your info, it was all very helpful :D

I'll do a bit more research on this I think.

Would the 'new years eve' thing be worth making a special effort to see?

As has been said there are two clubs which are over 21 only, apart from that, children under 18 are allowed in as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
I saw one child of about 8 or 9 dancing with her Mum in one of the clubs we were in, and I have to say that I noticed a few looks her way from other people - nothing too bad, but just made me feel that if it had been my children they would have felt very self-conscious.
The children Penny mentioned, as well as very tired, also looked out of place - in fact we bumped into one of the actresses from the Club the day after and she brought the subject up herself - that they felt worried that their jokes were not intended for that age group.
I'll be honest Karen, my overall feeling is that it really isn't a place for anyone under 18.

..... just read the last part of your psot and I should say that the New Years Eve thing doesn't last very long! Admittedly I was in the Adventurer's Club when it began and so didn't see the tickertape etc,. but there is only a short burst of fireworks - we went out to a patio to see them but they'd finished!!

Thanks Shirley,

If the honest injun advice is the 'kids' might even possibly get sideways glances I can understand and maybe its best to do something else.

My rule of thumb if I was there and thought why has somebody brought b****y teens in here, then I wouldn't like to spoil someones adult orientated fun bu doing it:)
