So what time are you waking up for the race??

THanks Craig and 10nis, I was totally confused on the whole bag check thing. I don't need to check a bag so I will not plan on swimming upstream before the marathon!!!!!!! With that in mind, I will definitely leave my room later than I said before. I guess more like 5:20 (I'm still way too nervous to cut it as close as you, Craig).

Thanks so much for the inside info. This is the whole reason we are staying at POFQ (which is also thanks to your inside info, Craig)!

Anyone leaving from Shades of Green? Do we need to go over to Poly to get a bus to the start or will they have one going straight from SOG? :bounce:

The red and blue starts for the full marathon are about 100 yards apart. The right start is more forward, it was the full start last year. The left start is behind a bit, it was the half start last year. The right goes forward, loops around to the right, goes under the road, and enters EPCOT at the front entrance. The left goes straight, up a bit, turns left, enters EPCOT in the back, then pops out of a big wooden gate between the U.K. and Canada pavillions.

I've only done the half so far, so I've not finished at the full finish line in the EPCOT lot. For the half I hope to be able to walk back to POFQ after we finish, but I expect Disney security to stop that. They'll probably make us take the bus. After finishing the full my wife will escort/carry me through EPCOT to our room at the Boardwalk Villas. I want to wear those medals through the park. And people BETTER APPLAUD.

Just like you, I hope to finish the full just under 5 hours. After doing the half Saturday my target is to hit the half way point for the full in 2:30 and then see what's in the tank for those last 13.1.

Sunny

I well understand you're desire to leave a bit early. Last year I would have been perfectly happy to wait as long as possible, but my wife, who was running her first ever half (and was all hyped up and ready to go) pushed me out of our room about 5:20. I was able to delay her in the lobby, stretching and hitting the bathroom, but she forced me out the door toward the corrals sooner than I would have liked.

See both of you Sunday.

One more POFQ question: Will it be difficult to walk back to POFQ after the race? I know Disney roads are not set up for pedestrians and there will be traffic by then.

Thanks :)

Planning to wake at 3 and be at the bus stop by 3:30.

That's my plan, too. I don't want to get up any earlier than I have to. If all else fails, I can drive to the start ;)

Craig, I guess our posts crossed. Guess walking back is probably out of the question. Oh well.

Does the monorail run continuously? If I am syauing at the Contemporary, and I am not planning on checking any bags, do I have to be there before 5am?

This is my first time to WDW and it is not clear to me why there is so much time alotted (SO very early in the morning)

Thanks!

I stayed at Shades of Green last year for the marathon, and yes there was a bus leaving directly from there. Good luck! :flower:
