I had another thought - - the other reason we don't like off-site is because we don't want to stay in hotels that we can stay at in anytown USA. Part of the fun is the themed resorts (even if you don't like new room decor, resorts are still "themed"). Like I said, for us it's the entire WDW experience. I want to leave the park and go back to my hotel which feels like a continuation of the park. Not a hotel that looks like all the hotels around O'hare or out in the burbs (in my opinion).
Not saying I'm thrilled with fees or price increases or whatever, but just stating why even with all that, we won't stay off-site. We will just not go until we can go the way we want. And others feel differently and that's okay. It's all okay!
