I'd love to see a bit of detailed discussion from the folks who have been posting such great HDR shots about the process that they go though in making these images.
I've got quite a lot of bracketed tripod images sitting on my hard drive (Canon 7D, RAW, +/- 2 stops, mostly with a 10-20mm lens) which I need to go though, but no matter what settings I try in Photomatix they never seem to come out quite as well as some of the images posted here, with colour temperature being one of the biggest concerns. They just don't 'pop' in a natural way, I can either get them very flat, or heading into grunge territory, but not quite where I want them to be.
In fact, generally I'm happier with the results I get from using Photoshop's RAW image processor on the middle-exposed image, often dropping highlights completely and adding some shadow detail, like this one:
