Well I was meant to do a trip report from our October trip, and never got round to it  Like a good DISer :littleangel: I did take lots of food porn photos so here you go guys (sadly the last two days are missing as I dropped my camera in the pool :sad1:).

Disney Florist
I had ordered Henry a cute Halloween basket through Disney Florist for when we arrived - this was so cute, with a pirate Mickey, pumpkin treak or treat carrier, loads of candy, stickers, flashing necklace etc - really nicely presented and I thought quite reasonaable for $45

This got :):):):):)

This a toffee cookie (apologies Henry took a bit before I got my camera out haha!) and mine was a shortbread biscuit. Mine was really dry, I didnt even finish it, Henry declared his as "ok".... ab bad start to Disney snacking!

:):)

Yak and Yeti
This was an excellent meal, I had the chicken with sweet and sour, Henry had the duck. Service was great and it was quite quiet. I had the sorbets for dessert which were really refeshing in the heat. Henry had the key lime pie for dessert which he said was delicious, but late in the trip we went to Yak and Yeti for counter service and they served exactly the same mango pie

Wolfgang Pucks Express

This was our favourite counter service on the DDP - such good value for money! For our first visit I had the spicy chicken pizza which was yummy and Henry had the chicken and garlic mash - which was AMAZING!!!! I think I ate most of Henry's mash  We both had brownies for dessert they were lovely and moist and fresh

Boardwalk Bakery
I had to have this cute little Mickey cake as a snack credit! It was really nice too, very moist. This is the bakery where our wedding cake will be made and if its as half as good as this one we will be very pleased :thumbsup2

Mexican Pavillion EPCOT

I am a massive Mexican fan and always make Henry come here! We both had the burrito wrap which was tasty, Henry didnt like the new menu as much, and I see it has closed for rehab so it will be interesting to see what the changes are :thumbsup2

We both had churros for dessert, which were huge I hardly touched mine!

:):):):)

OMG your food photos look good enough to eat! Totally agree that Wolfgang pucks are a great use of dining credits and their mash to just sooo tasty. Am off to the kitchen now to find something tasty:thumbsup2

The Wave

We were very excited about eating here! Unfortunetly it was very noisy and there were some unruly children around the bar area before we were seated. We had a lovely server who put us in an adults only section to eat.

We both had smoothies, which were really nice Henry still raves about his! We also had cocktails, I cant remember what Henry had but I had Glowtinis (a few too many as after the meal I tried to go up the down escalator at the Contemporary :rotfl:)

Henry had the cinnamon rubbed pork which was really nice but a little cold, I had the steak which came with a white bean mash which was delicious (my mouth still waters thinking about it!).

We then both had trio desserts (I have no idea which ones - but not the sugar free versions!

Apologies for the really bad photo quality - the light is very low there

Grand Floridian Cafe

This was a lovely quiet lunch, and the restaurant is so cute! Henry had the reuban sandwich and I had the angus cheeseburger (yum!). fro dessert Henry had some sort of chocolate cake I had a the chocolate fruit fondue which was lovely and light.

the only bad point was the restaurant manager was really rude when we checked in

We already have this earmarked for a nice quiet lunch to escape the Christmas crowds this year!

Snacks at Goofys

Henry had a white chocolate cookie (he loves the cookies over there I find them too heavy), and I had a chocolate strawberry - I love these the chocolate is lovely :goodvibes

Sci-Fi Diner
I was so excited about eating here! The food isnt amazing - but we loved the theming and had excellent service.

Henry had the ribs (awful photo, the light is so dark!), he said they were a little dry but still nice. I had the chicken bruschetta sandwich which was yummy.

I was going to get the sugar free brownie for dessert but our server said it was horrible :rotfl: (I loved her honesty!) so I got the chocolate fudge sundae which was nice and Henry had the chocolate peanut butter cake (no photos I had given up by this point!)

Were going back here in December and taking our family - they will love it!

Great thread, Gemma!!! Giving me (and my son!!! ) some fab snack credit ideas (we always struggle using these) when we do free dining in October... :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I know I was actually drooling when I posed that picture!

Thanks Karen! To be honest 9/10 we used the snack credits for drinks, it was so hot last October (we were there during a heat wave) we had no choice! We did make sure we got a few tasty treats though!

Loving this thread :goodvibes

Thanks Reid - going to try and get some more done :thumbsup2

Wolfgang Pucks Express (again!)

We both ordered the spaghetti, I know I was meant to have something else but they had run out so I made a quick decision and went with the spaghetti! Again, this was really nice and very filling, it came wide a small side ceasar salad which was gross to be honest, the lettace was old and it had a nasty aftertaste. But it the portion size of the spaghetti was so large there was no need for it the first place!

I think we had brownies again :cloud9:

Sanaa

We went here for lunch and it was one of my favourites, we got a great table next to the window to watch the animals and we had one of the best servers on the entire trip. The restaurant is beautiful inside - I honestly think this is a hidden gem in WDW, but go for lunch so you can see the animals!

159.jpg

Henry had the short ribs and thai curry with ribs and I had the naan bread topped with tandoori chicken, salad and a raita sauce. This was heavenly!!!

For dessert I had the sugar free chocolate pudding, which nice and Henry had the mango pudding which he declared nice as well.

I hope we can go back here in December, the only problem is its location "at the end of the world", but we will be having appertisers and entrees instead of desserts :thumbsup2

Snacks at Sunshine Seasons

On the snack threads on the DIS, I had seen the tasty treats at Sunshine Seasons so we had to have a stop off there! Henry had the key lime pie (he kind of got addicted to these :lmao:) and I had a Creme Brulee both were delicious :thumbsup2

I have only docked Sunshine Seasons a happy smiley face as both don't like the decor of the food court, it reminds me of being in a shopping mall and its always really noisy!

Pepper Market Take-Out

I had hurt my foot this day so Henry went so got us food from the Pepper Market for dinner .

I had the chicken sandwich and Henry had the ribs, they were both really tasty but the presentation of the food here isnt so good . I had a cookie and Henry had a muffin for dessert but they werent so good - I think I got fruit for dessert from the Pepper Market from this day on!

:):):):)

Yak and Yeti Counter Service

After the success of the table service, we tried the counter service later in the trip. I had the sweet and sour pork (I obviously was not feeling very adventurous!) and Henry had I have no idea what Henry had (oops!) but they were both very nice - huge portions though you could easily share one.

For dessert a had a cookie (I didnt eat this in the end, I forgot about it and Henry had the mango pie - which is the same served in the table serice restaurant!

We both really enjoyed counter service here and the theming is amazing :thumbsup2

California Grill

We had an 8pm ADR for this and Hallowishes was on this night so our ADR was not until 9:30pm. I think we got there for 7:30pm and we were told straight away that they were running 45 mins behind ADR time :scared1:

We decided to take the private lift up anyway and have a drink in the bar before the meal. The restaurant was crazy busy, we managed to get served at the bar (eventually one of the bartenders was rather lazy!) and had our drinks out on the viewing platform. The restaurant was so busy there were not enough seats for people waiting for their ADR, and the private reception rooms were also in use that night too .

We eventually got seated (after an hour!). The food was delicious, we both shared a tripple cheese flatbread to start. Then I had the Oak fired filet of beef with Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Baby Zucchini, and Teriyaki Barbecue and Henry had the Seared Ostrich Filet with Buttery Potato Puree, Wild Mushrooms, Globe Carrots, Fig and Honeyed Port Reduction. Both were delicious :cloud9:.

For dessert I had the valrhona chocolate cake - mmmmmm! Henry had the double chocolate semifreddo and he was a bit disapointed in this - I think it just tasted like ice cream!

The food service was nicely paced (we often feel like we are rushed in WDW), and our server was lovely. The manager came over and apologised for the delay in table, but we didnt mind but we thought it was a nice touch he come over.

We had a fantastic table to watch the fireworks from which was magical :wizard: . I would love to come here again, but I think we would get an early ADR so it would be a bit quieter :thumbsup2

Pepper Market Breakfast

We returned here for a counter service breakfast - the food was great for a counter service credit, and I like how every is prepared freshly in front of you. I know some people on here complain the staff are rude, but we found them very polite and helpful throughout the trip :thumbsup2

I had the omelette and Henry had the french toast - both were delicious :goodvibes

:):):):):)

'Ohana

We went here last year and loved it - so we knew we wanted to go again!:goodvibes The last time we had had a later ADR and watched Wishes but this time we thought we would try an early ADR so we wouldnt be going to bed quite as full as the last time

The food was delicious, and we had a great server and a table overlooking the castle :cloud9: (tip for anyone in a table of 2 - I think all the tables for 2 have a window view :thumbsup2). The bread pudding was amazing.

Were hosting a welcome meal for our family coming with us to the wedding in December - so we will be back!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Roaring Forks

We spent a night at Wilderness Lodge as part of our trip (more on that later), so we went to Roaring Forks for lunch.

We split a pepperoni flatbread and a grilled chicken salad, but were yummy although the flatbread was very greasy. For dessert I had a chocolate bundt cake which was a little dry I think it was a couple of days old and Henry had a huge muffin!

Wilderness Lodge Concierge Food Photos

We were very lucky to get a free upgrade at the Wilderness Lodge to concierge level :thumbsup2 We made use of the free snacks (they had savoury snacks and a fruit cobbler too but we didnt try these). Before dinner at Artist Point (coming up next) we also tried some of the cheese and wine (they had a particularly tasty red I remember :)).

Artist Point
I think this was our favourite meal overall, the restaurant had a lovely quiet grown-up atmosphere (it was very romantic :lovestruc) - and food was better than the California Grill!

I had the grilled beef tenderloin - the beef was amazing the best quality I have ever had. Henry had a buffalo steak (which isnt on the menu anymore) and we split a macaroni cheese on the side. for dessert I had the fruit cobbler (yum yum yum!!!) and Henry had a chocolate dessert which isnt on the meny anymore!

If you want a nice quiet dinner come here (plus they have an excellent cocktail menu :rotfl:)

Roaring Forks Breakfast

We both had hot platters to start (and I asked for extra plates as I cant eat pancakes with savoury!!!). The food was good, Roaring Forks was manic though, but we found a quiet spot outside to enjoy our breakast :)

:):):):)

T Rex Cafe

This was the only ADR we paid for and it was the worst meal of the trip. We had a late afternoon ADR (I thought it would be quieter - I was wrong!). The place was so busy and were sited on a main corridor where people let their children climb over our seats to get close to the dinosaurs and take take photos grrr :confused3:mad::sad1:. The food was ok Henry had the lasagne and I had the steak sandwich. Henry had a lovely oreo cookie milkshake and I had this crazy drink in a dinosaur bone! The dinosaur bone looked cool but the slush drink inside was horrible!

Service was ok, I found our server quite pushy.

Pepper Market Lunch

Henry had a sandwich croissant and crips and I had the spicy chicken nachos which were delicious - we also split a chocolate cake :thumbsup2

Main Street Bakery

This had been shut for the first week of our trip - so made sure we paid a visit during the second half of the trip! We got this HUGE chocolate brownie to share. Henry declared it the best chocolate brownie ever - the photo does not do the size of this baby justice :lmao:

354.jpg

We had a few more ADRS where I don't have any photos so here are our reviews:

Crystal Palace Breakfast
This was a lovely way to start off the trip, the buffet had lots of choice, and our server was lovely. We even got some pixie dust and were given a certificate signed by all the characters. We found the restaurant a bit too manic and were just not big buffet fans.

:):):)

Akershus Breakfast
We much prefered this too the Crystal Palace, the hot food is brought over family style, and they have a cold buffet. There isnt as much choice but we thought the quality was better. The characters were all lovely (and I got to meet Ariel!), as was our server. The restaurant is also much quieter for a character meal. You get photos with Belle in her yellow dress in a lovely souvenier folder too. Fantastic value for money for 1 DDP credit :thumbsup2

:):):):)

Coral Reef

The second worst meal of the trip! We had to wait for over half an hour for our ADR (and there were no free seats in the waiting area :sad2:) and once we were in the restaurant it was only half full! We were given a table right next to tank which was really cool but some rude parents let their children climb on our seats to take photos of the fish while we were eating. I found this so rude it really put me off. I wouldnt have minded if they had asked one of us! the food itself was good, but we won't be back!

:):)

Captain's Grille

This was a last minute ADR (was swapped from Kona Cafe), and it was fantastic! We went at lunchtime, it is peaceful and airey in there. We had great service and food was lovely. Its in a very similar vein to the Grand Floridian Cafe but we actually prefered the Captain's Grille :thumbsup2

:):):):):)

Following two weeks on the DDP (honestly sometimes it felt like a marathon! Here are some tips we picked up!):

:) When ordering counter serice if you dont want the dessert ask for another drink instead, most places let you do this :thumbsup2
:) Nearly all the table service restaurants have smoothies which can be classed as a soft drink on the DDP, they also give you a glass of tap water to go with it.
:) If you don't want dessert at a table service restaurant either ask for it to go ask about a fruit alternative most places do this.
:) Keep using those snack credits! We had to remind ourselves to use them, in the end we used most of them for drinks - you can get special drinks such as frozen lemonade with a snack credit too!
:) Don't stress about ADRS too much, we rearranged ADRS this trip and our last trip made some on the day and did walk ins. Its only the really popular places that are hard to get in!

What a great thread, sounds like you enjoyed the DDP. Great pics and great reviews, thanks for posting. :)
